You may well laugh, but these courses are big in the corporate world and companies send their drivers on them to "improve" their safety, so NO you can just pay the £80 or so and go on one without being a scum of the earth speeding maniac. |

Slightly off topic, I know, but of the two proper accidents I've had since I started driving in 1981, the most serious happened when I took my eye of the road for just long enough to check my speedometer! It was just long enough to not see the car in front do an emergency stop in time

Drove my mates 1litre saxo to northampton once - same thing, it was so slow you had to plan any manoeuvre a mile in advance.. And made you think more If you ask me it is slow inconsiderate drivers who cause accidents... I had one tonight, I was doing 50 down the lanes (national speed limit) and an old woman in a banged up escort and coming toward me was concentrating more on trying to wave her hands in a gesture to slow down rather than looking at the road ahead causing her to swerve into the middle of the road There was no hazard and No reason for her to warn me of anything, but still I went into the ditch slightly to avoid her Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints |

Did the course myself a couple of years ago, on the day quite funny really, the presenter ask each of us why we were speeding, quite a few of the others, especially the females said it was because they were being pushed by big intimidating 4x4's tight on their rear bumper, we were then on a show of hands asked how much we were over the limit, 15mph, 12mph, 9mph etc all the way down to 5mph, two of us stil hadn't put our hands up, we were then asked why we hadn't, "because you haven't called a speed yet" we were both 3mph over the limit and also the only two that drove a 4x4, he had an RRS. |

I did the course two months back, when asked speeds over, one guy said 43 in a 40, the instructor wet himself and said, " you poor sod, the threshold is 45"

I was "caught" by a camera doing 32 in a 30, and the reason for my momentary inattention? my wife was in the passenger seat having a heart attack and I was taking her to hospital A&E.
