Leave in gear??

My FL2 is auto, but I still drive manuals all the time at work. When I park up, I always leaves them in gear. Most of the guys at work don't bother anymore and say it's a waste of time. I disagree, having seen what happens when the handbrake cable snaps.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you leave your cars in gear Question Question Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

I always leave manuals in gear, reverse if facing down hill, or first if facing up hill. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

Always leave in 1st gear, the car will not move when facing down hill even without the hand brake applied.

This is taught in Police advanced driving. Very Happy Very Happy

car designers should learn from tractors. put a park on the gear stick, just like an auto. its not rolling anywhere, At work

Never leave an Auto in gear when parked unless is a Vauxhall craptronic box !
If you leave an auto landy in gear with the engine off it rolls away make sure its in Park.

Cars are designed for average members of the public, the ones who park right against you and leave six empty spaces free, the ones who drive off on frosty mornings peering through a postage stamp size hole in the frost, the ones with an IQ of a lettuce.

Technically an auto should not need a handbrake, technically a manual could do without a handbrake, financially cars are designed to be profitable and bought by people who spend time comparing lettuce not people who need it to do a proper job.
