car pulls to the right

Hi All,

I just bought a new FL2 TD4 GS a week ago, and made only 600Km.. I really appreciate the car, except it pulls to the right while Im driving slow or high speeds. From my past experiences with other cars, I checked the tires, brand new ones for sure, with correct air pressure. On the service, they made wheel alignment again but still problem stays there without any change.

What could be other possible points to check for solving this problem?

Regards,

Mete

Hi Mete,
What tyres have you got? Sometimes tyres are not well manufactured and do not sit very straight on road. Apart from this and a proper alignment I cannot think of any other reason for a brand new car. How about switching the two front tyres?

Hi there,

Yes, I did change front tires but does not have any effect. I got a call from service center, they got the factory settings again for wheel adjustments, so I hope this will fix it.

Thx, cheers

I presume they have checked the tracking of the wheels

If all these normal things such as tyres, balancing, tracking and pressure have all been checked and presume the roads you are comparing it on are level and not having adverce camber to the left or right.

If they are it sounds to me (who has no mechanical knowledge Confused ) that is could be something to do with the bearings in the wheel(s) not rotating freely causing the pulling to the left or right Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I am still curious..

After a long bureaucracy, I managed to reach to main importer yesterday and I visited their service center. We spent half an hour to discuss what is the meaning of "car pulling" and it is obvious that we are using different terminology. My car did not pull to the right according them but wheel trying to go right on first move Smile I tested 2 other FL2 there, they are same.. Think that you are in heavy traffic, without touching to the wheel, when you accelerate (not even a heavy acceleration) and brake, my car (and other 2) goes to right , sorry wheel attempt to turn to right.. and I am the only one here who complains about this..

I wonder if your FL2 does same?

i will have a look and see if mine does it today - it sounds like what a friend refers to as "torque steering" to me

I'll let you know, once i can fine a level road, without left or right camber Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Shouldn't get torque steer on a 4 wheel drive car, is only noticable on a front wheel drive car.

Doesn't happen on mine.

I would advise taking it back to the dealer and get them to strip down and rebuild the right-hand side wheel hub assembly, and check the brake calliper too, sounds like something is dragging somewhere. ______________________

I got same concern.
LR dealership did not find solution immediatly.
They had first try to set-up the alignment of the wheel, but problem was not solved
Then they found :
The problem was a bad mounting alignment between the chassis (engine cradle ??) and the front wheels system.
Was easy to fix, only to unscrew a little bit, set in correct position, and screw.
Inform your dealership about that.
