I got my freelander 2 about a year ago, and one of the first things i liked (strange though this may sound) was that low, throaty engine growl at low revs. After the first service, however, it had disappeared - replaced with a clanking noise that suggested something was loose/not fitted properly at around 700 rpm. several trips to the service centre have been met with curious stares, but no fixed....anyone else encountered this problem? carlos

My wife chose the diesel for exactly the same reason! But after 2 months the growl has been replaced by a whistle. She is not happy.
