1) it was purchased for the wife and not me Sad

2) I have to ask to use it! Embarassed

3) Its nicer than my pick-up truck

Here here. Except 3) for me is a Vauxhall Vivaro crewcab/kombi (which might become a Defender/Amarok/Ranger).

I have only 2 things I don't like

1) The cheap arse Sat Nav they put in the Australian Models

2) The cheap arse sound system that looks & sounds like something from the early 90's, if you pull the speakers out they have "Made In China" stamped on them Rolling with laughter , enough said.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Lago Grey

Since this thread has come back to life ...

The only thing I really miss is a low range. I used to use it all the time on the Forester - not because I do a lot of off-roading (the odd field or farm track is about it) but because it's so useful for low-speed manoeuvring. The Freelander is particularly bad at reversing up slopes (which I seem to want to do quite often!) because its reverse gear is so high. One ends up either slipping the clutch all the way up, or going far too fast! (Yes, I know an auto is one answer, but so is a manual with low range.)

Apart from that, better storage and reliability would be nice.

But overall it's a great car. It just needs the low range to make it near perfect.

Three things I don't like:
- lack of low-range
- lack of ground clearance
- lack of place to mount a winch

Maybe I should have bought a Disco? Whistle

I off-roaded a lot in Freelander 1s and certainly pushed them to their limits. With some good mechanical engineering and a big hole in your bumper you could mate a winch to the Freelander, we lifted Fl1s by 50mm (one did 60-70mm) using strut top spacers that would work in a Fl2. Low box is just good driving in a manual or an auto - not ideal solutions but a work round Wink

3 things I don't like

1 reliability
2 Some appalling service from dealerships
3 Abysmal service from L/R customer service

So all in all what can I say ?

totally shafted !
