England 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black
Great Service at Marshall Cambridge

I would just like to say a few words about my purchase..
I tried 4 main dealers in a 100 miles of me, to purchase an Ex - Demo or new FL2, I had a strict budget, and did not want finance....
well, you would not believe the Attitude, preconception & rudeness that I felt & received in all but 1 company,
honestly, I felt that my money was no good, maybe due to the way I look, spoke, or the fact I wanted to pay cash....I dont know..
the only company that I didn't receive this from, was Marshall's, I spoke to 2 branches ( Bedford & Cambridge) both equally responsive to my needs...
I choose to deal with a guy at Cambridge, & what a truly nice bloke he is too, in all the years of buying cars, I have never found an honestly good chap, that made me feel that not only was I in control ( as his actually listened & didnt try to tell me I was wrong.... (nice move stratstone's !!)) but felt that we could have a deal.

well, to some up....
thanks Chris Tippet, you done yourself, & Marshall Land rover proud...

I highly recommend this guy.....
so if you live in Essex... go and buy from Cambridge..... you wont go wrong !!

cheers.

I bought from Marshalls in Bedford. Same comments as above, plus their used cars seemed to be a bit cheaper than everyone else's (this was in 2010). Used them for service since, and they are a bit expensive, but seem to do a good job. Have to check they fully stamp the service book though!
Compared with some I have dealt with, they are way out in front!

problem is that they actually prefer you to either take finance, a PCP, or something similar, rather than use your own means to pay.

also has an effect on level of negotiating/discount, etc

remember a couple of years ago we looked at a new Mercedes ML350 in the showroom, loved the car and were going to buy it until the dealer ( Stratstone ) finance guy spoke to us.

after about 45 minutes of being subjected to a vast amount of bullshit we left and eventually bought the FL2 !!

This wasn't a problem in Bedford. Admittedly he took me through all the offers - extended warranty etc, but wasn't pushy at all when I said I was paying cash and didn't want his extras. Probably a bit different for a new car.

Never had a bad experience with Marshall Landrover in Cambridge. Always made me feel important and wanted to sell me something - all without any pressure. (Freelander 1 and 2)

We went through all sorts of deals and finally were content to take my cash - which was just as well otherwise it would've ended up somewhere else! Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

Moderator-

Should this be in "Dealership Feedback"?
