United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Manual Santorini Black

I have done 20000 miles since I bought the vehicle and the list currently looks like

Tailgate brake light
Handbrake cables
Handbrake Shoes
New Clutch / Flywheel
Front Anti Roll bar links
Airbag warning light – crash sensor replaced
Aux Belt Idler, Tensioner/Pulley
Front driveshaft
Sticking door catch

Thankfully though the only items I have had to pay out for are the handbrake shoes, the aux belt stuff and the crash sensor. Everything else was covered by warranty. Don't think I'd be brave enough to own one without a warranty as it was just £250 per year it has paid for itself several times over.

The big debate I'm having at the moment is it is in great condition inside and out, drives brilliantly now I've sorted all the niggles out..... so do I hold on to it for another few years or do I upgrade to a 2011 face lift model and risk having this kind of stuff go wrong again? I would really love an SD4 XS but this one is still brilliant. Don't want to spend out £5k more only for it to be just fixing niggles again.

Had mine for 15000 miles, it is just about to hit 70k. In the time I have had it I have replaced the boot release. It is by far and away the most reliable most enjoyable car I have ever owned. 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE

Feel for you Peasmold
I have a Jun 2007 XS TD4. I love the car, had it from new, and at 92000 only had 3 sets of tyres on it. Couple years ago had a starting problem which got sorted I believe with a software update. However, it's started to go wrong now, and I fear the big bills may start.
In June I had a wheel bearing replaced (£350), and (first) re-gas of aircon (£100).
Other niggles -
intermittent fuel guage drops to zero. - estimate £480 (apparently lots of kit to remove to get to it) I declined
AIrcon has started to screech, then doesn't work (Leak detected £485 to fix, PLUS, that may not fix the screech (aircon clutch??) so likely same again?
At speed started to make more noise, assuming another wheel bearing?
Starting - It needs battery disconnecting now before it'll try to fire-up. New Instrument pack suggested (£770) declined, as not sure this is the problem.
So it's cost me £1200 this year inc service (MOT passed without incident).

In summary, best car I've ever had, still love it, but feels like it's time to part company before I have big bills. How much is the DMF job guys?

Well I know I must be mad to say this........but here goes!!!!!!!

My MY2013 ex demo is almost 2 years old and 32k miles. (I have owned her for 20 months and 25k miles) In that time the only things requiring attention other than two standard services have been

Replace one headlamp bulb
Repair one slow puncture

Apart from that nothing has dropped off, rattled, broken, failed etc.......................nothing!!!

Right....I have said it now!! Standby for meltdown tomorrow!!

Steve
