United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black
Got My Santorini/Ivory Metropolis - Via Wife's Birthday.

So I came back to Freelander ownership!! This is something I never thought I would do, not because there is anything wrong with them but after 2 lovely Evoque's which IMO were everything I wanted in my first FL2 & a whole lot more & I thought if I were to get another FL2 I would be taking a backward step but I sold the 2nd Evoque in June simply as I got offered a good price & was happy running around in the 3 month old new Fiesta ST2 hot hatch. However the missus finds the ST2 a very hard ride & I first saw a Metropolis at a local dealer about 6 weeks ago & did a bit of reaearch etc & realised they appear to be pretty good value for what you get. I said to her that I would only get one if I can get one at a better price & then only if the right colour combination was available as in either black versions plus the Ivory as I do like the contrast.

So I picked up the Santorini Black with Ivory leather from Guy Salmon in Ascot last Monday the 27th (Wife's birthday, I will elaborate on this later).
We added the roof rails, mudflaps, rubber boot mat & will get side steps via ebay shortly. Very pleased with it, the Ivory really looks nice against the black & I think gives it that luxury look along with the Grand Black Laquer trim. Will signwrite the rear window as I will be using it for work & obviously to advertise.
Will post up some pictures when I get them off the camera.

The day of collection was on my Wife's 40th birthday & she knew nothing about the events of the day & also had assumed I had cancelled the order of the Freelander as that is what I said I was doing to be sensible financially lol.
I dropped my son off down his Grand-dad's & just said to the Wife we would collect him after lunch on our return from Maidstone shops (lol).
All I said to her was dress up nicely as we are going out. When we left the house she asked if I wanted the car keys & I said no I think we can go on the train for a change. Got to the station where I said to her stand over there while I get tickets (To London). On the train I said we are going for a little ride & whilst she hasn't got a very good sense of direction she has some idea!! On leaving Bromley South I said - Oh damn we should have got off there, Oh well we can go to the next stop & come back!!!!. The next stop was London Victoria & when we got off I said - Well we may as well stay here now. Then she said a coffee would be nice (but I had already got this in hand so remained quiet). Wanted to go up to Selfriges but time was tight so we walked to Harrods where after a good look I managed to find her a nice 40th present so found her a Gorgio Armanio jacket which she loved. Got this in the nick of time at 1.20 as at 1.15 we were due in the Georgeon Restaurant for Harrods Afternoon Tea, something neither of us have ever done before & knew little about how much time to leave etc. Thinking I had left enough time I had booked her next surprise at 2.45 but had to stall that for 15 or so minutes.

The next part was we had to get downstairs & round the side of Harrods for a chaeuffeur driven brand new Jaguar XJ to collect us. I just casually walked round the back of the car & opened the door where I said - jump in your carriage awaits (surprised look to say the least). As I pre knew the drivers name it was as though he was my personal driver lol as I opened the other door & said sorry Andt we are a bit late but things over ran upstairs as Harrods brought out at the last minute a little Birthday cake with chocolate Happy Birthday on the plate.
She said is this car rally for us & I said you are having a chaeuffeur driven tour of London (not) What I had actually arranged was the dealer (Guy Salmon in Ascot) to collect us from Central London to take us to get the car. Fortunately she didn't recognise any of the roads till we literally got outside the dealer & her face lit up & she said """You didn't cancel it - what I said? - The Freelander she said. I said no we have just come to test drive that white estate car in the showroom. We got into the showroom, sat down & was then greeted by the salesman which made her very happy.

The final chapter was her eldest sister lives in Ascot & during the day she moaned at me to say I havn't even had a text from my sister. She wasn't aware that I had already pre arranged for us to all meet up in the new Freelander & go out for a meal. All in all we had a very good day supported by one fantastic Landrover dealer for which a separate thread will be started. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Brownie points by the shed load me thinks. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.
