Evoque Vibration

Hi, over from Disco3 to see if any owners have had a similar issue as to what i am about to post. I am posting on behalf of a friend who is having no satisfication from his dealer.

Has anyone came accross this with their vehicle or heard of similar and what if anything was the fix?

Thanks in advance.

When stationary, with the engine running, in "Drive", and your foot on the brake, there is an unacceptable vibration throughout the car, felt through the seat of your pants, even in the back seat.
If you switch to neutral it disappears.

Sat in a friend's new Evoque this morning and the vibration we are experiencing was not present.
Also sat in Dealers* demonstrator and it was fine too.

Getting fobbed off by Dealer "Characteristic of the Car" rubbish.

I believe it is the same drivetrain, my SD4 has absolutely no vibration in 'Drive' with foot on the brake.

Not normal and not a characteristic of the 4 Evoques I've driven.

Try a different dealer, if you're using the one on the South side of Glasgow (was Shields when I was living in Glasgow) I found them to be overpriced and not helpful. I used the one in Motherwell who were not only cheaper but also did a good job and seemed to know what they were talking about.

I take it its an automatic. My first thought would be a problem with the torque converter pump As you engage drive. Its also possible the duel mass flywheel is failing.
What ever the problem it needs further investigation as what you describe is not normal. DONT let them fob you off. Tell them if your not happy with what they are telling you and say that you will go for an independant inspection and see what they say.
You always have the option of going to any other LR Dealer or contacting customer care

Sounds like the car is trying its hardest to drive away, maybe the idle speed is a little high, sometimes as the engine runs in and gets freed up the speed can rise a little?

The chap is from Edinburgh, and there is only two franchise dealers in the area. One has a good feedback rating, the other not so much. Laughing

Got this in from my friend earlier .

Dealer phoned me today.
They have tested my car against many others, and their conclusion is that they are all much the same. They have been in touch with Land Rover who seem to concur with them.
They have offered to replace the car with a new one, but warn it could be just the same.
They do acknowledge there is a definite vibration however.

Cheers,

Have you listened in the engine bay ? Seems weird that you can feel it in your pants you should leave things like that at home Laughing

On a serious note I had a vibration coming from the engine bay turned out to be an intake hose :S they did it anyway and its ok now Smile When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

Greetings Pegleg and Superspark. The dealer ship changed the torque convertor, it still viberates, stationary or on the move. Land Rover say its a characteristic and will not authorize any more work on it. It is now one week out of warranty.
