Update:

I finally got round to having a look at my handbrake problem today.
The trickiest part was removing the discs - the adjusters had both seized solid so I couldn't back them off enough to allow some clearance, but after some jiggling, swearing (always helps) and a huge rubber mallet I managed to get them off to reveal a rusty, dusty set of brake shoes and adjuster gubbins. The shoes themselves still had plenty of meat on them after 150K miles but the adjusters and cable actuation pivots were completely seized solid and no amount of cleaning was going to get them back to a serviceable condition.

Good job I bought a full set of discs, pads, shoes, adjusters & springs then! I bought the whole lot from partslandrover on eBay and they were genuine parts (all stamped with LR logo) costing less than £100 delivered Thumbs Up

The whole job took much longer than I anticipated due to the seized adjusters and the second wheel was reassembled under torch light! However, everything is back together now and after a bedding in procedure I am happy to report that I have a working handbrake once again - not exactly a good one yet but I am hoping it will settle down in a few miles. Cheers,
Raz
