Silly question but do you have to apply the footbrake as you ask the handbrake to disengage with the switch? Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Yes, footbrake should be applied and that is how I do it, but does not disengage...

I suppose you need to test the switch but there are no freebie wiring diagrams for the EPB that I know of. Jules |

Sorry for my poor English language. I had changed the Winter-Summer tires, and I had not updated the CCF with the Official diagnosis. I used the EPB maintenance mode and then Write New EPB Module. So I recalibrated the Electronic Parking Brake, so the error disappeared from the IPC. Hope it helps. Freelander 2 Y13 TD4 SE - Alaska White |

Hello enzofl2, I decided to replace the switch, as everything kind of pointed in that direction. It is not an expensive part (not cheap either), but figured that if I would do all the disassembly to get to it (which is kind of laborious) might as well have the part and replace in case that was the problem. And voila, it was a damaged switch. When I dismounted and examined it, could see that it was broken on the contact to release, and not the contact to engage, so that is the reason it was working as I described. The part I replaced is: LR045644, and got it for US$65 from an original parts dealer in the US. cheers, and regards to all! |

Hi Jules, You are right. I looked for inormation on the switch and how to get to it in Topix, and as I said on my previous message, looking at all the work dismantling would involve, decided to get the switch and then test. If it that was not the problem, then I would deal with it, but luckily it was. regards! |

To be honest I didn't even try with the local dealer. Based on past experiences I figured it would have been much more expensive, they probably would not have it in stock, with a long wait to have it here. For us it is quite easy and not too expensive to bring stuff from the US, so I usually go that way. I order online and send it to a freight forwarder in the US, and then ship it to Guatemala. |

Hi, I can see that there are people here that have fitted the LR045644 EPB switch replacement. Can somebody please advise on how to do this? is it centre console out or can you replace the switch without having to do that? thanks in advance! |
