France 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Narvik Black

I have been getting 40 to the gallon on mixed careful driving but it all fell apart last week-end.

My rock band had a gig in Harpenden so five of us went up from Somerset in the FL2 with a box trailer on the back with all the gear in. 60mph all the way on the M5, M4, M25 and M1 translated into 26 mpg... Shocked Shocked John

well just got back .
North Wales to Southampton (4 cases for Mrs M full of frocks and shoes and a holdall for me )
Quick side trip to Milton Keynes on the way back and then to North Wales
(not hanging about either, none of this 50 -60mph on motorways!!! )

534.3 miles door to door 38.475 mpg 2800 on the clock, hope to better this after about 10-12000 miles
seems pretty fair.
(tank full to tank full )
Number of liters divided by 4.546=Number of gallons
mileage divided by gallons = mpg

Will have to wash all that southern mud off today, no car washes to be found south of Watford Gap
(well no cheap ones anyway)

Sd4(chrome A*se piece)
Roof rails , tow bar (for pulling BMW X5,s out the snow when they get stuck !! ) Whistle Thumbs Up Wales
Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.
(And we have the water to wash it off, and more on the way..! )
Sd4 and chrome Ar*e piece, Auto box for best fun

Hi all,

I have been looking at the forum for the past couple of months since buying my new to me FL2. I was AMAZED the other day that I managed to get 50.4 mpg on a trip from Basingstoke to Milton Keynes. I averaged just over 50 mph for the journey during Friday morning rush hour traffic. I was so shocked I had to take a picture of the dash showing the actual figure.

So much for 4x4's being gas guzzlers Smile

Normally I have been getting somewhere between the high 30's and low 40's so this is defiantly not normal.

It was undoubtedly helped by a few sections of average speed camera monitored 50 mph sections where I just sat back and relaxed letting cruise control do its thing.

On the next leg of my trip from Milton Keyens to Durham I think my average was around 39mpg.

Hi,

Just put 5,000 miles on mine,(manual box) and seem to average 38mpg. Fast long journeys knock it right down though. Any one else noticed that they use more fuel in sixth gear than in fifth?

Mike

Tried that after filling up and resetting and got the dash reading the magic 100mpg. Downhill from Spennymoor towards Durham. Didn't last though.

Why on earth would you want to drive at 56 mph on the motorway unless your aged 80 or above Rolling Eyes
