It is a bumper cut on this one, not a big cut, about four inches square on the underside of the bumper valance. |

No clunk on my detachable, so far, this detachable has now gone over four times the distance of the previous Thule one and twice the distance of the previous two |

Do they take the bumper off the vehicle in order to cut it or leave it on? |

I recently had a fixed height towbar fitted, and they removed the bumper, and had a small cut to do. here is a picture of mine in many pieces... http://db.tt/V1orEV ![]() |

The link seems to be broken? Are there any alternatives to the official Land Rover fixed height towbar which wouldn't require cutting the bumper or would I need the bumper cutting whichever type of fixed height towbar I choose? |

Don't take it as gospel but I'm 99.9% sure that the Witter detachable can be fitted without a bumper cut. |

You can be 100% certain as I have one and there was no need to cut the bumper. |

Hi Ben Do you have the detachable one or the fixed height version? I only ask since my motive to get a towbar is so I can have a towbar mounted cycle carrier. My assumption is these can only be used with a fixed height towbar. |

I only tow a garden trailer so not an expert on this stuff but if it helps my witter detachable gives me a height of 450mm to top of ball. It is not the swan neck type but a straight one and a very neat fit. |

Ec Directive states all towballs should be from 350mm to 420mm to the centre of the ball when the vehicle is in a loaded state. They are all a fixed height on the Freelander 2 there is not an adjustable one, either a detachable or a permanent one. |
