Removing interior vent

Anyone know how to remove the internal vents? Had my car valeted any the nob jockeys hit the adjusting slider off. And I think the only way to replace it is to remove the front vertical vents.
Any ideas guys? Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

Might help if you could say which one is at fault.
I know how to get to the centre two but the outer ones I have no idea.

Hi Boxer
Firstly you need to remove the centre dash speaker cover, this is easy as its held down with a few spring clips (3 I think: one top centre, one either side). If you have finger nails you can lift the front edge (by windscreen) and unclip it - I purchased a set of levers made for this sort of job, from Amazon, that are made of red plastic so that it doesn't damage the rest of the cars plastic facias.

Next remove the small rubber matt between the top of the stereo and the bottom of the cubby hole bin/sat nav panel.

Now you should see 3 pairs of screw heads (which I think are Torx head screws) undo them all - one pair hold the top of the centre dash panel to the rest of the dash, the other four attach the cubby hole bin/sat nav to the centre dash panel.

The centre dash panel is only then held lower down by a couple more spring clips lower down around the area of the ventilation/air con controls.
Holding down around that area, gently pull the centre dash away from the rest of the dash.

You'll find that the vents are fitted to the centre dash panel you have just removed, after that you are on your own with regard to the repair of the vent.

Hope this helps and please update this thread with your experience of doing it and any problems you had to get round.
Cheers
Ade

the same happened to me.

I improvised.

Using standard electrical wire ( lighting / ring main 2.5mm works best )
I cut a length approx 8" long with a bend / loop at one.
Stuck the silver slider to it with blue tack, pushed in in between the slats and pulled it back in place.

Simple.
took 10 minutes thinking, and 2 minutes to resolve Thumbs Up

If more people would do like you...
Just the other day I saw one guy who'd kept trying to assemble something and, in the process, irritated, told me one phrase that I belive it will remain an anthological one in my mind...
"Boy, it's for the third time I cut from this piece and it's still short...."
