Well! Got there in the end.
Used the new drive shaft I bought as I just can't get the old one to go back together.
With the new drive shaft in place everything went back together no problem.

I did replace the washers and I believe they were genuine ones. I didn't change the clamp bolts so I'll look at getting some of them.
