Thanks for your reply. A Metallic sort of noise. I thought maybe a water pump failing or something. There is no smoke from exhaust so I'm thinking it's not turbo related. There is no loss of water.

At £2000 for a new drive, I think I would remove the one from under the seat and try cleaning the lens on the drive. Surly these must be standard DVD drives? Glad you had it sorted under warranty.

I used one of my wife's small "tupperware" containers. It's the perfect size and doesn't rattle one bit. It even has an airtight lid and was FREE!
