2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Zermatt Silver
Honda Element

I'm the person that the local police callout to dispatch deers involved
in RTA's, anyway, I got a call this morning around 10.30 to sort out a
deer that had been hit quite badly and managed to run.

I was a work so the local wildlife officer offered to pick me up...and he
was driving a Honda Element.

It the first time I've seen one, quite big, 2.4lt petrol and four wheel drive.

I have to say, I liked it, different.

Anyone else been in one.

Not as good as a Freelander.....

I recall James May from Top gear going on about this early on in the series (Watch Dave enough and it’ll be on) he seemed to think it was a cool car as it was breaking the mould of the stereotypical Honda and would be liked by the Kidz . So it must be un cool if Mr may approves

Don't knock it till you try one out for yourself.

I recently sold mine (solid color body), and have been regretting it. With the rear seats removed, cargo space was cavernous. Perfect for hauling all of my scuba gear to a local quarry. I even comfortably slept in the back of it when racing motorcycles over a weekend. For a quick transport of things, the rear seats folded up flat to the side windows.

The floors were rubber, which made cleaning a breeze. The seats, despite 4 years of my abuse, were as clean as clean gets. Honda coats the fabric with some trickery, which makes them quite resistant to muck.

Combined, I got 27mgp (US)(front wheel drive). Excellent considering you are basically driving a vehicle that has the wind resistance that of a refrigerator box.

Maintenance was easy-peasy. Parts can be found anywhere, and at more than reasonable prices.

Lots of storage space up front for trinkets and whatnot.

The front and rear seats laid flat, making it into a bed.
Tent, which attaches to the rear of the vehicle.
Bicycle mounts for both the top of the car and inside the rear.
The rear floor is removable and has mounts for legs, making it into a useful table.
Privacy curtain, which attaches to the interior of the vehicle, covering all of the windows when car-camping (so people can't look in).

The suicide doors made it easy to get larger stuff into the vehicle.

Unlike the Rover, one could get a manual transmission (Speaking State-side).

Tons of after-market parts available for the "outdoors type".

"Progressive, young, and interesting" color choices. I had the tangerine orange, which you either loved or hated, but when you saw the car, you knew who it belonged to. Mr. Green

Unfortunately, Honda is discontinuing the Element this year.

Is it ugly.....depends upon your definition.
Is it extremely utilitarian.
