I did it monday - had three diesels before this and this is the first time. 36 quid Big Cry Any road up - LR Assistance bloke was pretty dam good. The fix - quoted by dealer, £300.00 for the drain, flush and filter change or £5000.00 for the full job to retain my Warranty. Only got 4 months warranty left so no brainer - BUT 5 grand??

would be a very good investment especially if you have two or more cars that are a
mixture of fuels. I can assure all those who think they will never do it that it is very
easily done. Fortunately I realised what I was doing whilst fuelling a 330d BMW a few
years back, only got about 10 litres into it and then had it recovered home and got the
tank drained etc. Could have been a very expensive mistake, BMW reckoned £4000.

For £29 the Fuelsure cap is a bargain.

Anyone know if these work in Australia?

I'm not sure about aftermarket "Fuelsure Caps" in retailers here in Oz, but I was very pleased that the MY11 models, have units already installed. If you acidently put an unleaded petrol nozzle in, it closes off the tank via a valve and you then need to insert a special tool to reset it (for diesel this time). It might be worth a call to a friendly dealer to see if they available to buy? Otherwise Fleabay.

I've got one of those which is why initially I couldn't understand why this has happened. Do pre 2011MY not have the misfueliing device fitted then?

If they were to reduce the price of Diesel by £0.75p a litre then nobody would put petrol then in their tanks! The brain interacts better with the wallet than reading the sign which says "Unleaded" Rolling Eyes Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

I had a diesel FL1 for 4 years and never once did I worry about putting the wrong stuff in ... now I'm paranoid and become a jibbering wreck when I get to the pump. Shocked Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

There would be a stream of cars incorrectly filling with diesel. Confused

Just out of interest how much lead is in diesel anyway ? 2002 Honda VFR800
