Yes but the Maltese price is on the road, tax paid. The car will have been brought back into the UK tax free = much cheaper than a UK market car. A few years ago it was quite common for UK citizens to go to Holand, Belgium or Denmark to buy new cars as the pre-tax prices were a lot lower than in the UK. And it is the pretax price that the UK local tax is based on. Of course if you have driven it into the UK having used it in Europe for 6 months then it becomes a 2nd hand car and has even less tax on it. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

I'm aware of that Tim but I assume the first owner of the car has paid the total price (incl.taxes). So if he sold his car to someone in the U.K. he must have lost a lot ?

I am not 100% sure how it works...the dealer in Malta has stamped the servcie book but the first registered owner is in the UK, I am the second.

Dave don't forget that all Land Rover's are covered by worldwide warranty, hence any software updates necessary for your car should be free. It's not your fault, it's LR's! |
