Any problems with your Heated Windscreen.

Used my heated front screen in anger for the first time this autumn today, only to find a chunk of it (about a quarter of the area) didnt clear the frost. I don't remember the problem at the tail end of last winter when the vehicle was new, has anyone else noticed any problems with theirs?
Its due for its first service in a few weeks, looks as though I may be asking for a new screen as well.

I dont get much frost on my screen overnight....the garage stops that Thumbs Up so I guess I'll have to wait for it to start getting cold early-evening, & see how well it works when I leave work... '57 FL2 GS

See my posting

Read down the topic a bit, to the 15th Aug post
I had the same windscreen "not all heating" problem - The screen was replaced with no questions and is now back to 100% deicing - which has been very useful in the last few days
See your dealer ASAP. Heaven only knows what the cost would be if you had to pay!!! Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Nicam,
Thanks for that, I had a feeling when I was writing the article I had heard about it before, but couldn't find the thread at the time.
Will have a chat with my dealer.

The annoying bit with my screen was that it wasn`t an odd element here and there that didn`t work, it was broad strips, between 20 & 50 mm wide that didnt work. And the widest one was right in the drivers line of sight!!
I have noticed on the new screen that there are about 3 elements that still don`t work, but this is only noticeable for a few seconds when the screen starts to clear and doesn`t really affect the clearing overall. But I shall keep an eye on it for any deterioration in the future. Ford, apparently invented the system for their rally cars, so you`d think they could get it right by now! Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Ford put a patent on the quick-clear screen many years ago...the patent runs out soon....so expect other OEMs to start to offer it soon.....

Just because its been in production for a few years, doesn't mean the supplier has mastered the art of manufactureing it! '57 FL2 GS

That comment could apply perfectly to Land Rover in general. Wink Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Well its a few weeks since I posted this one, the car had its first service a few days ago and the screen problem was also raised.
Landrover now require PROOF that the screen is faulty, so I now have to take a photo of it when it is meant to be de icing! Could be fun if it is still dark at the time. If I had known that I may have been able to get a photo several weeks ago. Bit annoying when I see that others have have their screen changed, no questions asked.
