New Freelander prices have just risen by £10!

I'm waiting for my new Freelander to be built and delivered for around the 30th of June.

I'm aware that the dealer is able to ask for more cash if the manufacturer increases their prices between now and then, so I was shocked to find that the prices have just risen on the Land Rover website. Now that I've checked it against the old price list, I see that the prices have risen by all of £10! What's that all about?!!!

Unless its in the "small print", if you have already agreed a price and signed on the dotted line then there is naff all the dealer can do. ______________________

It's pretty standard small print that does allow them to increase the price if the factory decides to increase the RRP, though I am entitled to cancel my order and gain a full refund of any deposit. But why on Earth would they bother to change the price by a tenner?!

If they haven't ( and probaly won't) ask you for an extra tenner or whatever it is, then they won't, so why get in a knot and worry?

I was worried when I saw that the price had gone up, but when I saw that it was only a tenner I was bemused rather than worried Rolling Eyes

Fair comment, bemused is a word we use a lot with Stealers.

Sounds like it's the road fund licence increase which came in to effect on 1st April?

Hmmm, they charge an extra tenner for RFL, they'll be adding the increase cost in oils next!!

Interestingly, a friend of mine supplies industrial white oils to industry, the price of these have not moved at all and it comes from the same refineries as fuels?

Seems fair to me you can't really expect manufacturers to cover for changes in taxation law. You could probably blag something off them though if you moan nicely

When I was collecting my first freelander they asked at the dealership for something like 20 pounds worth of money for whatever tax increase. I replied that there was no way I would pay that, considering I had just transferred to their account a few days ago 60.000 Euro for the car, and they had already all registration etc of the car done for me, insurance paid etc.

The saleswoman went through a bla bla of that they are entitled because of whatever in the sales contract. I then replied, if they were insisting on it, please hand me back my 60 K in cash, and I would walk away.

That sorted out the rather inpleasant moment we had. Idiots. Rolling Eyes 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone
