The engine is a joint (and fairly equal) project between PSA (Peugeot / Citroen) and Ford. Also used in Jaguars and Land Rovers. With the engine having been extensively revised by Ford for Land Rover use, I'd call it a Ford engine if you feel the need to. |

The mechanic also told me that the fuel filter is exactly the same as the Citreon but the Citreon one only costs a few pounds compared to the Landrover one at more than £20. Again being ripped off and paying for the name!

Yes that sounds like a slipping clutch problem. It happened to me, landrover replaced the clutch under warranty. SOmething to do with the automatic ajuster sticking with the dust from the clutch plate. Design fault. Contact landrover and tell them, you might be lucky and get them to do it for you free of charge, If not your looking at £1000 ouch |

Where you take your car?? £1000 seems a little excessive for a clutch, considering it's only £150 for a clutch! |

I have had the car at the dealers twice and they can find no fault, the problem is intermittant although starting to occur more often now. I will get it back into the dealers soon and inform them of what I was told about the duel mass flywheel.

I understand the engine is designated as a DW12 by Peugeot. I am familiar with the DW10, and the 12 is similar in many ways.

I had the exact problem as you. I've just had the DMF/clutch replaced under warranty. The Pug 4007/Citroen Crosser/Mit Outlander suffer with the same problem as they all use the same PSA/Ford powertrain. It's a big job to replace, around a day in all. The clutch slip on my FL2 was caused by the DMF. What i don't know is whether the new parts have been modified to prevent the problem occuring again. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice. |

I remember my MK1 Mondeo costing £650 for a new clutch 13years ago. Parts cost is not the issue, it depends how labour intentive the job is. A min if £100 per hour and it doesn't take long to have a mortgage like bill Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass |
