telfire, a genuine question - do you experience excessive wind noise on the driver's side around the front pillar? I seriously considered a CR-V but this really put me off. The dealer himself acknowledged it was a known issue and Honda had tried to cure by stuffing insulation material into the door jam. However I read probably every online review there is and the majority reported a quiet ride. It does make me wonder how reliable these reviews are, but did make me question whether perhaps the dealer was just being chummy, but couldn't believe he would admit to an issue that didn't exist.

I agree that spec wise the Honda perhaps wins out, and the flat floor, rear passenger space and boot space are appealing. However driving position, ride and the lower road noise won out for me. I suspect the FL2's off-road ability is much more than I will ever need, but I did have concerns even about the Honda as a general make it to the shops in the snow vehicle after reading several comments and watching videos. Apparently Honda compromised the off-road ability for car-like qualities, in addition to the lowered floor.

Anyway, best of luck with it.

Hi SimonB

So far not experienced any excessive wind noise nor road noise.. But like I said before I've only had it 5 minutes so time will tell I guess.

Yes its very car like and very different to a FL2. Its also a lot easier for my dear ole mum to get into as she's approaching 80 this year and I don't know how much longer she could have got in and out of the Freely so that also had to be taken into consideration.

Yes I agree with all out there that its not a patch on the landrover for off road capabilty but I was never gonna punish my freely off road, I found out what they could do on the Landrover Experience day.

In the snow..... Well I guess its gonna be wait an see, its computer controlled all wheel drive and we don't have snow over here all the time.!

Boot space is quite good and you can even ajust the rear seats to an fro if more legroom is need in the back.

So far I'm happy - But as I said you can find fault in anything if you look hard enough. telfire

Lovely looking car mate, I am sure you will have many trouble free years ahead with the outstandingly refined 2.2 diesel. I love my FL2 but do miss the old Honda engine, the times I was asked by people if it was a diesel or petrol.

Thanks Wizking

Yes I'm loving it so far, but its early days at the moment and I need to put some miles on it.. Yes the Honda engine is so quiet and runs sweet where as my freelander seemed to rattle like a train (bloody ford engine) took it back several times and they put it on the laptop and found nothing wrong with it..

They even lent me a 60 plate demo with 500 miles on the clock whilst they looked at mine and to be honest I found that just the same as mine.

Perhaps the new SD4 is a different story? But for now I've spent my dollar on the Honda so won't be looking to change for a little while yet. telfire

I had a Honda CR-V old style but with new engine and I have to be honest it was rubbish. Biggest drawback was lack of power going up hills in the peak district. it had absolutely no pulling power as it is mainly designed for long flat roads to give a high MPG rate.

Like it. Thumbs Up Telfire can you post a couple of pics of the interior. I'm a Honda fan, just bought a run out Civic Type-R, great little bit of kit. Had a couple of S2000's and Prelude's before that.

We also took out a CRV before buying aFL2, I wanted the Honda but although it looked fab with the bodykit and big wheels, it was so noisy inside. I blame the dealer, having booked a test drive, they sent out out in a 3 year old trade-in, beaten to bits, instead of the MD's brand new demo. Tough, we went elsewhere......the 2.2 had no punch, but would have bought the petrol anyhow.... 2010MY Freelander 2 HSE Auto

I like the CRV but for some reason it seems to give the message that you are an old fart.

I may consider one in ten years time when I actually am an old fart !!

Iain

ps I think it's just in my local area they are all driven by pensioners and that's what gives me this impression
