It's good to hear that the Freelander kept its value so well.

When I was looking for mine it looked like I wasn't going to get my Freelander's contract hire figures within an affordable range. The contract hire company asked me if I would consider a top of the range Honda CRV (leather, sat nav, etc.) for the price of the most basic Freelander. The promotional deals are definitely out there on the Honda.

One of the reasons for choosing the Freelander was that I didn't want to get stuck in my village, unable to get to work, for the third winter in a row! I found this one interesting:

However, a good friend uses one as a tarmac only MPV and after having owned it for nearly 4 years, he's very happy with it. I hope you enjoy yours too.

Tigger.

I must say the above video posted by Tigger is interesting. My FL2 would plough through that snow easily and on the normal goodyear wrangler all weather tyres at that. But then Honda didn't design the CRV with ultimate capabilities in mind. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

So I thought well I'm tired of all the main dealer costs that I may incur at a latter stage, the excessive MPG and the servicing costs (that was coming up) and went out and traded mine for the Honda.

Honda CRV 2.2 i-DTEC (Diesel) Manual combined mpg: 43.5

Land Rover Freelander TD4e Manual combined mpg: 45.6

Never saw more than 41 mpg on mine and that was driving it like a tart..

Anyway.. I guess none of you like the Honda then? Well its here to stay for a little while.. And then I'll move up to a RRS when I can justify the 60 odd grand for one Very Happy

The two wheeled Honda is a fine machine, add two more wheels and the body of a sumo and it somewhat loses it's appeal.

Even as a Triumph rider and enthusiast, I've got to give credit where credit's due as far as Honda and sports bikes are concerned Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

The CRV will almost certainly be more reliable than a Landrover as much as it pains me to say it but the CRV is too car like for a 4x4 & the front end looks like there is a panel missing.

I can't knock Honda as my wife has just bought me a new Honda bike for my birthday though I can say that Honda were useless in their ability to supply the product when they said they would!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.

Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

2007 CRV 2.2 diesel ES Manual in Black
Honda reliability and build quality a load of Censored the same as the car was.

1) delivered with steering pull to left, told a service update soon so was asked to wait.
Rework cured pull but then had no stability needed correcting all the time and ultra sensitive to camber.
Back to dealer and 1new front spring fitted to N/Side as Honda update 2, seemed a lot better but when
taking 180 degree sweeping turns as on some motorway junctions the steering kicked out of your hands, road tested by Honda UK engineer and he nearly hit barrier. Immediately said not to use car and provided hire car.
New steering rack and pump ordered, it took 5 weeks to come.
It was better but never happy about how it drove.
2) Rear discs excessive corrosion at 8k, discs changed and OLD pads refitted. Honda policy.
3) Clutch hydraulics failed.
4) Bought a 2008 FL2 Auto and 2 more since All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e S Manual Santorini Black

Guess we could discuss this for ages, as there will always be plus's and minus's about any new car?

But all I seem to read on here is guys slagging off dealers and complaining about their new Freelanders. So just to sum up:

- My spare wheel was included free
- Dealer filled it to the brim with diesel. I watched him do it. (Unlike my Freely where they put just 20 quid in)
- Of course it'll be better on fuel. It weighs less and is more aerodynamic unlike the FL2 which is shaped like a brick
- Has more toys than a Freely (spec for spec) wheres your reversing camera then ??
- Decent handbrake unlike FL2 (whats that all about?)
- Reliability is as good as any new car out there today
- 3 years free servicing included in the on the road price.
- Voice activated sat nav and phone bluetooth.
- Engine very quiet even when cold. FL2 TD4 sounded like a bag of nails and the dealer said it was fine.

Don't get me wrong as I had some fun with my Freelander, but got out while the going was good. May go back to one someday but they need to change a few things at Landrover first, like change their customer service attiude and keep up with the competition out there.

So to all you guys out there safe and happy motoring (thats what its all about) May need yer to pull me outta the snow one day LOL

NUFF SAID GUYS - KEEP SAFE telfire
