my car is very happy in 4th gear at 30mph, no vibration at all and pulls like a train when you ask for it. I think this is when in a manual you can really feel the massive torque of this machine, amazing. and also in 5th gear at 30mph no vibration whatsover, but believe it or not at 30mph in 6th gear, ie under 1000rpm, no vibration at all if you just gently touch the accelerator and she'll pull away. thanks Doctor...............it really never ceases to amaze me how much torque this engine produces in real on the road terms, if you know what I mean.

Absolutely. I had a rep following me really close in his vectra as the road was about to change from single to dual carriageway. We were stuck behind a slow moving lorry and I was doing approx 35mph when the dual carriageway began. I floored it in 4th and the acceleration for such a (relatively) big car was very quick and ultra smooth. By the time I had changed to fifth, 65mph was showing and the vectra man was somewhat surprised. (I wasn't racing you understand - just flying past the lorry). What I love about the manual Iain is that you get to know the gearbox and you know what gear is best for what speed. E.g approx 25mph 3rd gear gives quickest pick up and because we know what gear is best, acceleration is ultra smooth. I sometimes try accelerating in 1st and 2nd using sand mode, its funny how much quicker it gets off the line. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby LOT (Lord of Time) - University of Gallifrey |

yes Doctor, I know exactly what you mean 35mph to 65mph in 4th gear is really astounding for such a heavy vehicle.
