Someone, or something has scratched my windscreen. Not deep scratches, but thin lines up the drivers side, and going across on the passenger side. Only normally visible when it's sunny (so not much a problem in Wales) but because I know they are there, it's bugging me.
I was told to try Jewellers Rouge, which I bought, but it has to be rubbed in with a polishing wheel at slow speed. My dremel type machnine has ony a fast speed, so I'm afraid to try it.
Any advice appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem on my FFRR, visited Halfords today after one of the windscreen replacement companies - windscreen company could not help, Halfords recommended MER glass cleeaner after looking at the scratches (there are two parallel scratches from small stones under a winder blade (I think, otherwise it was when the auto on wipers swept ice across the screen on one of the recent frosty mornings) on my car. Unfortunately Halfords had sold out of the MER! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Next doors cat? having just done a pile in your border, wet paws, grit stuck to them, slides down your heated screen to wipe its bum.  I was only wrong once and thats when I thought I was but wasnt.

Do be aware though, that this must then be declared as a claim on insurance renewal. I have just been caught with this when trying to have mirrored NCB with my provider, all going well until they saw that I had claimed for a new windscreen, then due to the strict rules, this option was no longer available. It does not seem to make any difference to quotes on ordinary new policies, but if you do not declare it, it could lead to problems if you need to claim (or so they told me).

Only so called hairscratches can be removed. If you can feel the scratch with your finger nail, it is heavier than a hairscratch. Even if you would try to remove it, you'ld get a disturbing optical distortion.
Glass manufacturers use indeed very large polishing wheels (about 50 cm in diameter), turning slow and you need a lot of practice to do the job right.

(I used to work for automotive glass manufacturers)

I get distrubing optical distortion when I am on the Ganga, but I can still drive okay!

In your position, the distortions of the windscreen could maybe compensate yours.
