some dealers won't allow credit card payments as you can dispute the payment at a later date, shame as i could have had £30K of tescos points Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Good one, nice reponse! I think this has got a little out of hand which is not the intention.

Hope you have not taken it personally Doc, as this is not the case.

No worries, like you say just got out of hand. Wish V-Power was that cheap here! LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

It's true that the increase in MPG does not justify the cost - just do the sums, its 7-8p per litre more to buy V-Power (~6%) and I've got 38.5 average over 50k miles and would break even if I got 41 on V-Power. I put in the odd tankful though in order to keep the engine and fuel system cleaner; these additives really do work (I've seen the results at engine test companies).
I don't use supermarket fuels unless I have to - do you remember the issue with supermarket petrol a while ago that kllled loads of people's oxygen sensors; stuff that came in white unbranded tankers that had been bought on the spot market, was the rumour.
Petroleum companies spend millions on research and testing and use the right additives, that's why they cost a bit more but they're worth it for me - I think the same about oils and send far less on them than fuel in a year.
I have a Shell points card so have not tried BP Ultimate - might give it a go sometime.
For those doing fuel economy calcs, don't forget that fuel pumps area allowed errors in what they dispense and as driving conditions vary massively, real back-to-back comparisons are extremely difficult. It's bad enough getting a true picture using the same pump on differnt days but Super fuels and ordinary fuels always come out of different pumps with their own readout errors.
My average is 38.5 MPG but the variation fill to fill is 32.79 to 42.96. Trip computer tells me average 1.5 better MPG than doing the maths on the fillup litres and mileage.
Another bit of trivia to share, tracking this for three years, fuel economy is best in the Autumn and worse in the Spring - something to do with the temperature and when the fuel companies tweak the formula for the cold weather, I suspect. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

cold damp air is thicker meaning more oxygen to the engine, my other diesel cars always seemed to have more power on rainy days. engines now have air mass sensors which should compensate for different atmospheric conditions At work

Cheers guys, you've even got SWMBO at it. If ever there was a woman who knew sod all about cars, it's her, now she is pontificating about Morrisons fuel over Tescos over Shell. A friggin instant expert! Rolling Eyes

Next she'll be modding the motor, changing alloys. God help us! Some things should be kept sacred.

Dave, have you EVER know a woman to shut up? Great at telling you to shut up however. Evil or Very Mad

As for washing it, she's never washed a car in her life, but she hates it to be dirty! Rolling Eyes

I've already told her I want to be her in the next life. She retorted that could be sooner than I think! Shocked
