HSE Folding Mirrors

As the proud new owner of a 2007 Freelander 2 HSE in Tambora Flame, I am delighted with it.
My only gripe so far being with the the door mirrors.
When you put the vehicle in reverse, the passenger mirror dips to the floor, and the drivers seems to point skywards.
I assume this is meant to be?, but as far as I am concerned is a b****y nuisance. I like to reverse by my mirrors, especially when I have a trailer hooked on, but these stupid mirrors will make it impossible.
Are the dip functions removable?? dealer visit perhaps??
I certainly hope so.

when you put the car into reverse and the mirrors move as you say, adjust them to whatever you want and they will move to that very time you engage reverse................a brilliant feature !!

And what about when you travel forwards???
Or am I just not driving correctly by wanting to see what's behind me at all times??

From what I understand you have wing mirrors which "dip" when you select reverse.

So whilst in neutral or forward gear adjust the mirrors for normal driving position - usually for distance vision behind.

Then select reverse gear - the mirrors should "dip" - at this point adjust the mirrors with the buttons either to your prefered rear view position or "as intended" to a position which gives a better view of the kerbs for reversing.

Sounds to me like you just need to adjust them - the current setting is just plain wrong - it isn't a fault as such.

Could be wrong and i'm sure if I am others will give better answers Thumbs Up 2002 Honda VFR800

maybe I didn't explain properly, and maybe you should read the handbook !!

when you go forwards or are stationary ( but not in reverse gear ) you adjust the mirrors to what you want and they stay there.

when you are in reverse you adjust the mirrors to what you want and they go there when in reverse only.

^ That was a lovely answer Thumbs Up

Basically, adjust them twice, once in neutral or a forward gear for reverse vision going forward and again in reverse for reverse vision reversing.

Ok - I see.
Been too busy this last week since receiving the car to look through the handbook.
Seems a very strange system to me, to adjust twice, but hey, who am I to critisize.
I will adjust them up and see how I get on - thanks for the replies above. Thumbs Up

And if I remember correctly... whilst in reverse (mirrors dipped) and attain a certain higher speed they pop back up to a more useful (safer) position. Handy when you want to perform that high speed manouvre that body guards do when escaping from kidappers! Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

But wouldn't you only get a body guard driving a FFRR? Confused 2002 Honda VFR800

Good point - well made.

Put FL2 into reverse, let wing mirrors do their thing, now adjust them to where you would like them to be (for me the drivers side stays the same but the passenger side i dip so i can see the kerb), press MEMORY on the side of the seat and select a number (1,2 or 3), now your new wing mirror settings are saved and will go to your selected position when you engage reverse.

Must admit I didn't know about pressing the memory buttons.

The 2007 owners manual doesn't make a mention of the memory seats, only 2008 models onwards. Confused
