Looks as though I've got the symptoms of the dreaded non working tailgate switch. Have done a few searches and it's all sounding very similar to my problem, will only release with the remote fob after unlocking etc.
But I also have the problem of the tailgate releasing every time you physicaly open any of the doors, will the problem still be the tailgate switch or is there something else going on that I don't know about?
Just had the FL2 back from the stealers after the 4th service as well so all very annoying really!

I am not an expert on why this isn't working, but have seen cheap genuine replacements on Fleabay. Shouldn't be difficult to change, if thats the problem.

Yes, I think i could manage the DIY switch replacement but it was the tailgate releasing when opening the doors that was puzzleing me

There is an electrics diagramme on this site, cant think of the link, Chicken George know it that said. PM him, he'll point you in the right direction.

Just had a replacement tailgate locking mechanism fitted under warranty last week. The tail gate kept opening on its own, very annoying when it happens 4 - 5 time in a row, each time when you get into the drivers seat to drive off.
