I had a FL2 as a loan car while my RRD was getting the iPod connector fitted I had to pack all the gear I was taking with me in the FL2 and take it to the dealers to transfer into the RRS. I filled the poor little FL2 even the front seat and foot well was filled Shocked It all fitted comfortably in the back of the RRS and I even got the load cover to close. over a journey of 220miles dealer - home - dealer I averaged 29mpg in the FL2 in the RRS over the next 1000 miles to Belgium I averaged 31mpg with the TDV8.
I was going to buy a TD4 FL2 HSE but after taking the family for a day out in a TDV8 RRS and the SWMBO commenting that she rather likes this one, but in blue, I had to change the order (cunning plan Whistle Thumbs Up ) Not regreted it at all, great car Cool

seats were folded down on the RRS, but the load cover did close. It was the look on the saleseman's face as I unloaded my stuff from the FL2. It was my astronomy telescope that took up the most room, the case for it was a tight fit across the back of the FL2

If we know you had a telescope that big you could have helped find Carlfraz when he went missing at Euro Disney.

Nice to see you have your laptop whilst looking at the stars, hope thats so you can keep upto date on Freel2.com Rolling Eyes

I have been going through the drama of replacing my RRS in the last few days and I did consider the F2 as I want a car that is quiet and comfy on a long drive. According to LR's own brochures the F2 is wider than an RRS so was useless to me as it was too wide to go into my garage - the RRS will only just fit through the door but it is so close that I keep it on the drive rather than risk being 5mm out and damaging it!
Anyway F2 is 2005mm wide with the mirrors folded 2180mm with them out, RRS is 1983mm and 2170mm, there also isn't that much in the length of them - F2 is 4500mm RRS is 4788mm figures from LR September 2007 brochures! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
Defender 90 County HT in Epsom Green

Thanks Tim. I also bought the LR2 because I thought it was smaller and would easier fit the garage. I was very surprised when I learnt that the RRS was actually narrower. What in the end made you opt for the RRS? I'd be more happy if you talked me out of getting one than convincing me to upgrade. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

Q, my Land Rover purchases over the last 7 years have run Disco TD5, Freelander TD4 Auto, Range Rover TD6, RRS TDv6 and yesterday I signed up for an RRS TDv8 with delivery on the 26th October. I considered the F2 as I was trying (not very hard!) to move down to a smaller car. I love the F2 BUT i think LR are chancing their luck charging so much for cars with a decent spec. I loved my F1, it suited me superbly and got me into offroading after owning Discos for years that never even mounted a kerb let alone went into the mud. I had so much fun in my F1 that I found that I was taking it into places LR never designed it to go and I was risking severe damage. To get out of that corner I bought a 2nd hand 1996 Defender90 which I still own.
Value for money aside there was really no other reason for going for a TDv8 RRS other than that I could afford to!
It sounds awful to say but it is true and RRS is much better at cruising from Stirling to Southampton very month than a Freelander 1 or 2 - I can get there and 1/4 of the way back home in the TDv6 before I need to refuel and it is just so nice to do long drive in, but not as nice as a Full Fat RR which was even better for the job than an RRS! I just don't need the vast size of either a FFRR or a D3. Unfortunately although the RRS WILL go into my garage the clearance is so small both each side and above that I keep it out on the drive rather than risk a scrape with the door uprights.

You need the upgrade Q! I know of a dealership that has a very nice TDv6SE in Giverny Green with only 21000 miles on it, 2years and 4 months old, one careful owner coming into stock next week................................................... see my signature for a list of the other bits on it!! Mr. Green
Make them an offer of about £30k and I'm sure it would be yours! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

XE, I'm member number no21 here, have been on since well before F2 was launched, it's another good forum to be on as you can learn so much, even though I don't have an F2 I know people who do and don't have internet at home so cannot get the info. I'm a member of all of Martin's Land Rover forums - RRSport.co.uk, Disco3.co.uk, FullFatRR.co.uk. and even Defender2.co.uk as well. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

FL2 vs RRS

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Range Rover Sport Supercharged VIP Day at Gaydon when they launched the HST. Very Happy

At the time I had a Discovery Metropolis and thought it was the best - but after trying the HST myself on and off road and being taken around the test track with a LR Driver it was very hard getting back into my Discovery and I set my sights on a RRS! Sad

Reality set in later and I realised that the cost was completely unjustified - I had a great day - grinned for weeks after - but I think the Fl2 is fantastic and the best value LR and unless I win the lottery will be my choice for years to come! Thumbs Up Even if I did win the lottery I would have a Fl2 for my everyday car. Smile

I know a lot of members have had problems and LR get slagged for reliability but in the last 7 years I have had 4 LR's and they have never let me down. I had a Toyota Landcruiser because they were supposed to be perfect and I had 2 years of problems before I got a conscience and decided to buy British. Bow down
