I don't know if it has already been posted but I have just found this LRO Big Test posted on You Tube. Freel2 certainly didn't look left behind at all

Np, I think you will find that for the short period that they did the exercise no damage would occur to the clutch. Hopefully LR have beefed up the Freel2's clutch compared to the Freelander 1 which was it's weakest spot off-road. My experience of off-roading with Freel1's was that the manual version cooked it's clutch far too easily and if asked I would always advise owners of manual Freel1's not to take them into anything too serious. The automatics are far far superior off-road in this respect as there is slippage from the torque converter anyway. The advice given by the spotter was about the best you could give in the circumstances. The problem for the driver is to keep the revs as low as possible while resisting the temptation to give it some welly to get the TC working! Even so that was an impressive demo of the Freel2's capabilities - I was also impressed by the deep wading that they did in it, at least their cars were press fleet cars and they weren't going to have to repair them at their cost unlike you and me! Did you notice the total ease with which the FFRR just cruised over everything even though it was on road tyres and it looked like they forgot to raise it to offroad height!! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet? Why not Viking, that was a piece of p*ss compared to what the car is really capable of. Don't forget that was a launch day, they aren't going to put a new model through anything extreme that will either show it in a bad light or scare the living daylights out of the motoring journos who get to play offroad in it.

Hello Tim in Scotland from Tim in Norway. Well, simply because I havent taken the LR Experience School yet. And looking at this, I wonder if I dare.... &NR=1 I would be afraid to destroy the car. Much easier and safer to ski down the steepest hill..... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack. |

A question regarding the first video: After 5 min 35 seconds I think it is the Freelanders turn to drive up the steep & slippery hill. Before that we have seen the others struggle up.

Tim, we have supermarket car parks here that have more difficult obstacles than an LRE......................... you should get your self prepared and find your nearest 4x4 club or even the Norwegian Land Rover Club and ask to go out with some of their members in their cars. You will learn a lot from an LRE, but you will learn even more if you go out with folks who are out to enjoy themselves. Remember LRE's are trying to sell cars - clubs are for those already converted!
