I imagine it would only cover things like kerb damage for a max of £100. There are companies - franchises I believe, similar to chips away - who arrive in a van, take the wheel off, burnish off the scars and repaint, all for £50 to £70 per wheel. I can't recall the name at the mo but a friend of mine had a couple of wheels done on her Mercedes coupe. I was there at the time and he made a superb job. The wheels looked like new and he did take the tyres off. There's a place near to me that is set up to do chip & scratch work that also do wheels. It's 60quid a wheel. So using that as a guide then you need to have more than 4 wheel repairs in three years to make the insurance worthwhile. I suppose it depends on how good you are at parallel parking

I would speak with a wheel specialist company if diamond turned wheels can be repaired, i am not sure if they can be smart repaired myself.

NPINKS - sorry, a little off topic but . . . . the little white worms??? I had exactly what you describe on my previous 4WD alloys. I gifted the vehicle to a mate but I'd still love to know if there's any way of fixing the problem. Despite plenty of bush-bashing, there were very few scratches, but the "white worms" definitely devalued the vehicle. Do you know what can be done to rid them of white worm syndrome? |

Thank's all for your advise. Pick my SD4 GS up this pm. Apparently the wheel insurance now covers "Diamond" turned 19". If I do require a wheel to be refurbed & there are any issues with the claim. I'll hit them with the fact that they sold me a policy that is not suitable.

Instead of paying 240 for the insurance, I would keep the money and if really necessary I would source a wheel from ebay. At that price you can source even a (like) new set. Again, WHEN and IF necessary....
