Obvious - get a 37 year old Landie and you won't have a problem.... |

It seems to me that you expected your LR to be the same as the cars you have had previously... it isn't. Perhaps you didn't know that. Yes, it is progress. What is wrong with progress? OK, it means that you have to do some things slightly differently but that is a small price to pay. This is a new car, it has new technology perhaps to your old cars. You will benefit from reading the manual. |

I blame the vehicle seller..... our FL2 dealer showed us all sorts of useless things* and quite a few few useful ones both at the test drive and handover stages.

Ive heard that something like 20% of kids leave school these days not knowing how to use or read a book, the only language they know is Text language, CUL8R so I think you have to expect some cant work a book. I was only wrong once and thats when I thought I was but wasnt. 2010 Freelander 2 XS Stornaway Grey 2010 Aston DBS Morning Frost 2010 Bentley Continental Brooklands Green |

I've tried the pushing starter button with foot off clutch and the only bit that comes alive that I can see is the radio/satnav. Windows still refuse to operate without engine running |

Agree with "Past master" - if you insert the fob and press the start button for about 3-4 seconds the dashboard comes to light. The info screen also tells you to press the clutch to start the car (very considerate!!!) any way it works on my MY07 GS. 2002 Honda VFR800

next time I get in it I'll give a longer press a try. The reason for needing to know this is that its handy to check all windows are up before I wash it as SHMBO has been known to leave a back on down a little! |

You don't have to even get in the car to raise or drop the power windows.

David W - I'm with you, rarely read a manual. If I can't work it out from just looking it's too complicated. I am entering the technology backlash phase of my life where I don't want to waste hours of my time working out how to push a button or link my new gadget up which is already out of date once you get it home. Almost bought an Iphone 4 the other day then came to my senses. On my car I only need to know where to stick the key, fuel, the oil, air for the tyres and the dog. And as for Bluetooth? Pile of rubbish, just don't use my phone in the car. |
