Now there is another "first drive" from Autocar - a very very short first drive but they seem to like it
http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstD...29/256303/ How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
Defender 90 County HT in Epsom Green

The Evoque has all the hallmarks of an ultra successful and highly profitable fashion trinket.

It's striking looking, characterful, has massive heritage, is likely to be highly capable off road (relative to other fashion items), good to drive and (likely as not) have a huge list of cost options to dress it up like a Christmas tree (think MINI here...). For the first few months it'll draw crowds where ever it parks and I'm sure there won't be any discounts for a long time.

While the association with Victoria Beckham is way beyond excruciating embarrassing for any right thinking person, it'll appeal to many of the target market.

Good luck to them, if it helps the profitability and long term future of Land Rover and helps reduce their corporate CO2 figure (thus avoiding EU fines), not to mention the work it'll bring to Halewood, then the very best of luck to them Thumbs Up

Would I want one over a Freelander? No thanks, it's not for me.

Would I criticise anyone who bought one in place of the usual default VW / BMW / Mercedes / Audi / Lexus zzzzzzz Yawn ? Absolutely not!

Tigger.
