I currently have a Sportage 1.7 2wd a a company car and i must say it is a lovely drive.

If you go for the one with the 18 inch Alloyds then the ride is a bit on edge.

I cannot fault the thing.

Sorento wasnt designed by Peter Schryer, Sportage, Venga, Ceed, New Rio and New Picanto were.

And yes, the waiting list is that long and i could have sold a boat load if Kia pulled their fingers out and got them built! Gone S383 ABA Freelander 2.0 XEDI Rioja Red

I work for a Korean company, they are very patriotic as regards goods, even the office hoover is Korean, ffs.

However, I currently drive a Merc which has been scowled upon, you have to own Korea to drive one over there, so I must change come September, I mentioned the Sorrento and they ran around gibbering about the diesels being crap, the MD has bought a FL2 and I have the thumbs up for one too.

I was very surprised when I test drove the SD4, mpg results on here suggest it will be OK, 30k miles a year, mostly motorway and I will be able to play at weekends!!!

Just waiting for a quote from Jeremy at Lookers and all will be well, looking forward to taking more of a part on here, September can't come soon enough.

Ah, you work in a Kia dealer and obviously local to Sunderland?

I only ask as my gran is in the market for an automatic car that is smaller than a Yaris. The Picanto may be about to get a look in! Blue

I work a little further south from Sunderland, down the big road. PM me if you want any information, i will be glad to send it out.

I can highly recommend the Picanto, but an all new one is on the way for Q3 I believe, she may want to wait a little while longer! Gone S383 ABA Freelander 2.0 XEDI Rioja Red

As I understood it, Peter Schreyer designed the "Tiger Nose" for all of Kia's cars including the Sorento.

Went to have a look at the new Sportage yesterday, as they say its similar size to the New LR Evoque

My thoughts on it are, the Nissan Juke is quite a funky car for Mrs NP, and the Renault Clio RS was a nice looking sporty car if i wasn't 6'3"

As for the Sportage i didn't see it, as the dealer only sells Nissans and Renaults Rolling Eyes Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

DOH! I see why they may not have had one then! Laughing

OT: Renault own Nissan and they share the same CEO. Only learnt that recently.

If we were more patriotic we would have less unemployed people in this country. Buy British when you can.

The more British the better.
I'd rather pay more to keep my fellow countryman in a job. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

British built cars? tricky to define, see link below which is dated 2009
Are the Freelander engines built at Halewood? My TD4 is a Peugot/Citroen unit, I think the SD4 is a Ford
Ford do not build here anymore tho engines are made at Dagenham. Honda and Nissan seem to be the main assemblers.
Parts for any car will come from all over the world.
So how would you define a 'British Built Car'?
