Mine is just over a month old, including 2 weeks off the road for faulty centre instrument cluster. LR reliabilty is not a strength and trying to lease something else now!!

The tow bar is not currently ADR compliant , which put paid to a receny trip I had planned.

As for floor mats I am getting a set made up to cover the footwell etc. I too have the alpaca trim.

I ordered early September and I am expecting delivery in February. So yes a little wait. I just hope some issues are sorted by then.

My mats cover the floor, stay in position, and collect dirt.

What more do you what them to do? Question

G'day team,

I bought a new F2 through Trivett Classic in Alexandria last week- tickled pink with it. I travel a lot from the southern Highlands to western/NW and North shore of Sydney as well as country areas and my fuel consumption has been around 7.2-7.6. I have done over 5000 kms in that time.

I previously owned a Disco (2000 model) when living in Queensland 2000- 2003 (200,000+ k's in 24 months), pounded the bejeebers out of it on livestock and property inspections and loved her dearly.

On returning to Sydney, I have owned two Peugeot 206's (also through Trivett) and with my additional mileage I am now doing, the Land Rover siren was calling.

When ARB decide to build a bull bar I will probably equip her with that, mainly because I am expecting increased 'roo and wombat activity over the Hume Highway due to the drought.

... I agree, I've only seen three since its launch ... an orange one that must work near World Square in Sydney (seen it a few times); a Baltic Blue in the Chatswood Westfield carpark and a Tonga Green (I think) driving around Castlecrag area. Hopefully, I can see my Stornaway Grey soon ... they said 30th Nov ... we'll see!

I have had my LR2 (Freelander2) for 3 wweks now and am happy. The big test will be this weekend when I drive to Melbourne to tow my Tvan back to Canberra. That is provided the towbar is fitted Friday.

Let me know how you go Ub2. Was surprised with the pickup on the LR2 compared to the LR3 during test drive. Am sure it has alot to do with the weight. Wasnt expecting the LR2 pickup to be as good as it does 0-100 in about 11sec and my Forester does 6.7sec.
Any problems with fitting the toe bar? Heard that the BMW X5 frame needs to be strengthened (expensive) to accept a toe bar. My Forester needed an oil pump added (no great expense).

Cheers

Yes, I've had the same problem. I've had mine since the beginning of September and still no towbar. I ordered the vehicle with the towbar and was not told that none was available until after I'd sold my previous vehicle. So far I have been loaned a Discovery 3 whenever I have needed to tow something but it's a pain. I'm also still waiting on roof rails and cross bars.

A shame because otherwise the vehicle is great.

Hello Npinks

Well for a start they should protect;
1. the driver's foot rest which they do NOT cover
2. the carpet under the driver's pedals which they do NOT cover
3. the driver's and passenger's side wall base which they do NOT cover

I bought the protective mats for when I get in with muddy or very dusty boots. Any cheap after market rubber matts do all 3 above and at a fraction of the price so I bought some to protect the protective car matts. Embarassed

What is it with British design? It used to be world class and in the FL2 mostly is apart from the little things. The Japanese and now Koreans always get these things right these days.

BUT you are correct; the matts do stay in place so I suppose I should be grateful. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up Regards Ub2

I Know what you mean about the foot rest, not been covered, a nice metle plate or something simular would be nice for there. Neutral

We have allowed so many people into this country I bet it's not a britain that doing the designing anymore if they can get the cheaper labour elsewere. Crying or Very sad

I was lucky enough to meet the designer at the FL2 launch at the London Motor Show in 2006. He was both interesting and passionate about the design he'd developed. I think he was also British, and he didn't look cheap to me! Razz

Having said that, there are obviously some details that could be improved .... certainly the metal footrest on the auto versions. Rolling Eyes

Hello Nick & Npinks

The designer might be British but I tend to think of the FL2 as a Ford with a green oval badge; probably because I started out at 18 with Ford Cortina GTs and Lotus Cortinas. Great cars, Cortinas as a Cortina 500 actually won Bathurst and I usually barrack for Ford. Hey they own Jaguar too. Thank God they don't own Ducati but I recall that is owned by a Texan management company now I come to think of it. Oh well I supose if we wait 20 years the Chinese will own everything. Or will it be Coke, Pepsi of Microsoft? Bow down Regards Ub2

Whose Pepsi of Micro$oft?

Regarding the foot mats. I'm also in Canberra. Which mats did you buy?

Incidentally I checked with ARB about a bullbar, but they say that they will not be making them for the Freelander (and other small 4 WD's).

Having now driven my LR2 for 6000+ klms in two weeks, my one bugbear is the clock. Why couldn't it have been green like most other makes and with sunnies on, the radio station/CD chosen is invisible.

Apart from that little winge, great car and it certainly attracts some questions at the service station Tony Fountain
