MY 11- Body creak

My 2011 model has developed a "cracking" noise which seems to come from the front door area on both sides when I move off or brake. It is quite a distinctive sharp "crack".

It was in the dealer last week and they acknowledge the noise but despite efforts cannot find the source. I mentioned previous issues re noise at the bottom of A piller but they checked that out and advise that this is not the problem. Door trims were removed and all bolts, checks etc tightened. Also under the bottom they tightened any nut they could find.

They took advice from Land Rover who claim they have not had this problem reported. So dealer reported it!

Dealer refers to it as "body creak" as it seems to be caused by the body just moving around under different stresses.

Has anyone experienced this on this new model----or indeed on any model? Dealer appears willing to be helpful but they simply don't have a clue at this stage where to look.

Their advice at this time is to "wait and see" if it gets worse..or whether LR finds anything across these new models.

Many thanks

I had a problem similar to this when I purchased my FL2 in 2007. The dealer had the car for about a month and was liasing with Landrover engineering. Eventually Landrover wanted the car back at the factory so they could look at it. 4 months later I got a new car.

Customer service was first class from both the dealer, Shields Landrover and Landrover themselves.

I had this with my 08 fl2 and think I have it on 11my. On my 08 it was the A-pillar, parts expanding and contracting cause it to creak. Car is going up to have grand lacquer trim fitted and the glovebox fixed so will get them to do the A-pillar. Thumbs Up. Did your dealer do anything to the A-pillar? Or just look at it and say " no fault found ". It's not a hard problem to fix apparently. Mechanic said " although it sounds a bit crude all we do is stick a screw driver in and poke about ". Shocked but it worked. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I had a creak coming from the drivers side rear suspension area on my 08 plate, everything from something loose in the boot to stripping down the back door and even the complete suspension strut and replacing every single nut and washer couldnt fix it. 6 seperate visits to dealer finally got it fixed but the explanation was useless 'something to do with the chassis'. As I understood it, the bodywork was catching on the chassis?

Looking at the dates on that powerpoint presentation. That could be my car cut up in bits as mine was back at landrover engineering from Dec. 2007 till I got my new one March 08.

My FL2 was creaking at the drivers door area so it went into James Edwards (armed with this info) and came out 'creak free' Smile

Hopefully GSMY11 will get his fixed soon Smile

from the slideshow it seems to be a relatively easy "fix" if not somewhat a bit "hod it and dod it " !!
