France 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Stornoway Grey
Will it fit?

Hello all

I live in France and am back to the UK in just over a week to collect a FL2 that I've purchased via eBay. There is also an item that I need to get back from the UK (in two boxes) and it'll obviously be good if it'll fit in the car to save me paying a courier. It's longer than the load area but don't know if it'll fit between the seats. I suspect it's too heavy for the roof too.

The dimensions are:

[133kg] 217cm x 99cm x 31cm
[ 28kg] 126cm x 63cm x 23cm

As you can see the longer box is only a foot wide. I wonder if it'll fit between the front seats diagonally and rest on the passenger seat.

If anyone with a FL2 can give me some idea as to whether this'll work I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Andrew

Weight mught be an issue, but if you DONT pull down the rear seat, bit you sit on but pull down the rear back of seat, then recline the front passenger seat, then you can prop sdomething at an angle over the front headrest. I managed a bumper at just over 1.8m with tons of room to spare.

lar, that image is a help. Would you have a side elevation by any chance or are these images freely available somewhere? Thanks. Your English is perfectly good.

dunroof, I'll be the only person in the car so I think the 150Kg (ish) should be OK.

Here's what I was thinking :

I think I'll take a chance and go for it.

Many thanks for the prompt and helpful replies.

Andrew

If, as I read it, the package is 99cm high I don't think it will go in quite as you've shown it. There is only 88cm height clearance in the back and a fair bit less between the folded seat squabs and the roof. You might still manage it by tilting it half sideways.

I wonder....is it feasible to unbolt the front passenger seat?

With that out I imagine it would lay flat down that side of the car.

Leave the rear seats in place, remove the headrest of the front passenger seat only. Recline the front pass. Seat fully to back, then put it over the seat. Tie down properly so it wont fly out the front window if you brake hard for any reason. Thumbs Up 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone

On the right side for me.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...980wt_1139.

As crazy as it sounds it's still a lot less expensive for me to purchase in the UK than in France. The same car would be about 19,000€ or more here.

I get the impression that it may take some jiggery pokery but this could work. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for all the input.

If the original dimensions are correct, laid flat it will be 99cm wide. No way to lay that flat between the driver's seat and the passenger door.

OK - I can see that as it's as near as damn a metre wide.

So I'm banking on your suggestion earlier of having it canted over partialy.
