I have a Garmin 610T, this works well with blue tooth etc. There is also another thread in this forum where a member has manufactured a bracket for holding the Garmin in place. I have not followed this up, but I would be vey interested in how the wiring was accomplished. Have a look in the gallery. GS TD4 All Black |

I am using the Garmin Nuvi 660 which fits the aperture fairly well after the rubber mat is removed. |

Dave, if you want to go the extra distance you could have a touchscreen put in the hole and then have it operate a seperate navigation system. Any decent car audio place should be able to sort you out with a system to suit. |

Hi U2fan I fixed one of the adhesive dash mounts in the side of the hole where the OEM Sat Nav is normally housed. It is then possible to attach the Nuvi 660 using the windshield suction pad with its integrated power cord and aerial. It is bit tricky trying to attach the unit in the aperture, and the power cable and aerial dangle across the dashboard to the power supply, which looks a bit untidy. I believe it is possible to route the cable through the back of the hole and under the dash but it still has to plug into the power socket. I have discovered that the unit will fit into the hole reasonably securely without attaching the suction pad, which makes it easier to remove when parking in areas where theft is a problem. I only use my Sat Nav occasionally so the fitting and removal is not a major problem and I can tolerate the untidy cable. I am content with the Nuvi which includes the Trafficmaster congestion facility (free) and warnings of Safety (Speed) Camera locations(annual subscription). I have not taken any pics of it mounted but will have a go for you! John-Boy |

Added a pic of the Garmin into my gallery. I removed the rubber mat from the hole and then placed the dashboard disc directly onto the base of the hole. Tried first to affix to the rubber mat itself and this did not stick but doesn't look like I could remove from the dash now even if I wanted to so make sure you get the position right as you only get one chance! I then use the windscreen mount onto the disc as John-Boy if I need power and the traffic lead connected - if not I just replace the mat on top of the disc and the unit fits in the hole snugly without any fixing as shown in the gallery (ok for short trips until the battery runs down). Note the mat does not fit back fully as shown by the gap underneath in the pic and it actually sits on the two rubber studs that would normally go into the holes in the dashboard. Reception in both cases is fine and the route mapping has been spot on. Portability is a great idea (except when leaving the car and dropping on the road ) but at least shows it is tough as still working fine . For those in the UK the 660 is avaiilable from http://www.pentagongps.co.uk/garmin-c22.html as is the 670 which is identical except includes North America maps in addition to Europe - useful for anyone who take a holiday to Florida etc. I have no affiliation with the site selling this except that it is local to me (run out of the parts department of a nearby Toyota dealer) and it's where I bought mine - for those local to Sheffield you can buy by visiting the dealer rather than through the website. |

Thanks for your kind comments U2fan. There is another useful thread on this subject under Maintenance & Modifications - SatNav - 17 March, giving details of how to run the cables behind the dash, without drilling any holes. Regards |

Had the same here in Amsterdam as npinks, but they took the radio and found the "not so secret" draw under the seat where the satnav was....and the even took the leather case for it....very professional by all accounts.

Thanks for the info and advice guys. I'll be waiting until the January sales to make my purchase but the top two in the running are the nuvi 660 or the Tom Tom one Europe V2
