Thought there were 14 speakers so have just checked brochure and it states 14 plus subwoofer.

2 in each door x 4 = 8
1 each end of dash and 1 in centre = 3
1 in each rear pillar = 2

So any idea where the 14th one is located?

Says 14 in the brochure or at least it did last year. The Sub-woofer will be the odd one! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

It is 14 including the Subwoofer.

There is also alot more than just fitting the speakers. The AMP ect is all part of the usual canbus system. It would be far far easier to buy an aftermarket system instead of trying to retrofit the HSE Alpine system. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

As I understand it, it's a combination of a non-standard implementation of the MOST bus fibre optic audio connecting to the information systems CANBUS network. From what I have been told it's nearly impossible to upgrade without a new head unit and loss of functionality on the info system. Be interested to hear how you go however as upgraded speakers would be a plus.

Just picked our car up today, and it has the premium 7.1 surround and I believe it has 14 (incl subwoofer is correct). Centre, L+R Dash, L+R door tweeters, L+R door mids; L+R rear door mids ; L+R rear door tweeters, L+R cargo area tweeters + Subwoofer in with the spare tire well. 11MY SE SD4 in Lago Grey just arrived with a free Garmin thrown in! This could be the start of a beautiful relationship (I'm an eternal optimist, and former FL1 owner)!

In MY10 HSE, the sub is located in the rear compartment, under the spare tire cover, at about the two-O'clock position to the spare tire.

Watch out for turning the Sub-Woofer up too high when you have a dog in the boot ( no intended), since the floorpan does vibrate quite a bit and has put my dogs off travelling a touch..
Apart from that the sound is stunning :D
