right deep breath

the fault was a valve rod bent, cylinder head face smashed by valve Big Cry Big Cry apparently a rare happening, however the tall and the short, new head needed and all the add on required comes to0 it is in my opinion more than i think the engine is worth (especialy if there ae any other faults like this.)

so i am now looking for a replacement unit there are plenty out there

to put things in perspective this will reduce the price of the full fix by 45 to 50%

will keep you all updated

oh well S CensoredT happens eh Thumbs Up

The car is now going to have new engine that has been sourced by the garage in southall (engine specialist) this will be fitted serviced and given a five year warranty (as long as there service schedule is followed) the new engine has done 17k so not to bad. I could get one from eBay and get that put in but no warranty would given really don't want to be back here in 18 months time so a little more spent on warranty engine will give peace of mind

The company are going to do all the work that is needed and pressure test and replace gaskets degas the air con and service engine and gearbox I would rather get it done properly Thumbs Up
All that for 2.5k.
For me that is a stretch but I don't want do it twice so the decision is made will have to stay in for a few weekends lol

Less than I thought it would cost without a warranty Shocked

mental note: don't go for a drink with andw if it will only take a few weekend to recoup the £2.5k, I'm old and my liver won't keep up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
