Well guys, I'm back from my trip covering aprox 1200 miles and the average MPG was 33.8, so I have gained 1 mpg by having my tyres at the correct pressure................was hoping for more but I guess I can live with that.  ______________________

Same here UKdave since checking/correcting tyre pressure have noticed slight improvement but still missing 3mpg from software update ...have looked b y everywhere ........ think there lost for ever

I usually get about 32mpg when driving to work and back, abot 15 miles of A-Road and Motorway.
At the weekend I took a trip to Lincolnshire and back, on the way back after a cruising down the Motorway, the average was 37.2 mpg.

I travel 1 mile from the house to a dual carriage way. Then 33 miles to the airport, trying to keep to the 70mph at the moment. I have noted an increase in the mpg as it is now displayed at 29.7mpg.

It may be that the first couple of thousand may be running richer because it is a new motor. I have experienced this with new diesels before.

Had a bit of time to kill this afternoon, so decided to try ecomony run on motorway.

According to trip computer

At 60-65mph, best I could do as 36mpg, on about a 50m run.

65-70mph, this went down to about 33mpg.

50mph, about 38.5mpg.

Not got a clue how some of you are reporting 40+mpg, all the above figures were based on light (very!) throttle pressure, generally I return about 27mpg around town, or about 30mpg on longer trips.

Boring at 60mph on motorway thoough!!

Best I have ever had driving normally on long town/motorway drive 32mpg

I don't know if anyone' s interested in the i6 figures, but I think they are quite impressive for a 3.2lt engine. Motorway driving is around 10.5lt/100km and combined is around 13lt/100km. Taking into account the engine size, acceleration and power I'm very pleased with that.

I'm managed to average 30.3mpg for 8 hours today on the motorway, sat on the adaptive cruise at 70.............. was surprised at the number of Freel2's that I saw storming up the 3rd lane like they were off to an emergency, Freelander2's are getting as common as RRSports these days.

Don't forget it isn't a Freelander2................... it's a 2 day old RRS TDv8 HSE, now with 800 miles on the odo! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Filled up again 407 miles using 59 litres average 31.36mpg so it is on the up  GS TD4 All Black

To get the best mpg you need the manual, aircon off, and don't use cruise control, make sure tyres are at right pressure, my old manual got 46.8 upto Newcastle from Bedford. Talking of which Clarksons rerun doing the Audi to Edinburgh and back was on the re runs on 'Dave' channel last night. Audi said it was impossible for him to beat 36mpg average...he got over 40mpg!!!

I think mpg is something we should all look at due to saving the planet etc,

but not let it take over your life, the main thing is that you enjoy the car your driving and not worry about it too much.

I am in a privleged position that i don't pay for my fuel, (apart from the tax I pay) so I don't look at it too much as it offen only read 26 -28mpg due to my heavy size 11 foot and inner city driving

Just concentrate on the road or greenlane your on and not the mpg display.

This is not directed at anybody on this forum, it is just my opinion.

I have size 12 feet (open goal .... ) had not considered this in my mpg calculations or as npinks rightly points out there effect on the planet , i am always willing to do my bit ...i will experiment and try driving in socks or bare feet.... apologies to my wife and children but we all must make sacrifices in the pursuit of higher mpg and saving the planet.

I agree 'np', although because I cover a higher than average mileage I have the opportunity to try different styles and see the results quite quickly and as sad and boring as it may sound 'messing' about with styles helps pass the time.
