3rd SERVICE

The third service was due, and as I stay just to the north of Glasgow, I wondered where to go for a service. So I decided to go to Team Valley! 3 hours and 155 miles each way. But it was well worth it. A coffee on arrival and a free courtesy car for the day, a service for around £230, an MOT as well, and they spotted a slight oil leak between auto box and engine. This might mean auto box out, so it`s going back down on 21st for this to be done, under warranty (just)! Absolutely delighted with the service from them so far. Just about to book a 3rd service - probably with Gauva guilford.

Have there been any 'optional' tech bulletins that I should ask them to do?
Or anything that regular forum members are aware of that should be checked out whilst it is still in warranty?

I have had the mandatory heater replacement done and the b-pillar seat belt replacement. Any others?

I've barely done 22,000 miles so hoping to have no extras!

scotster,
I am not sure if you got my pm. You could have the brake fluid changed. This was charged extra to my third year service. I had the ircon cleaned as well.

3rd Service and MOT for £139.95 from LR dealership

Anyone living in Scotland may find Parks Economy Care an option. They are advertising a Platinum Service with an MOT and your next one free at their Landrover dealership in AYR for £139.95 plus if you want fully synthetic oil it will be an extra £15 and you will have an additional cost if you require a diesel fuel filter.

You can go to

http://www.parks.uk.com

then click on service from the service drop down menu. Click on parks promotions on the right. Then click on more details on the main screen.

Seems like a good deal to me.

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Baltic Blue

I'm getting ridiculous prices here (Sussex) - the Frosts 3rd Service mentioned on a previous page has more than doubled to £360, and Harwoods of Pulborough are quoting £437.28!!! Rolling with laughter

Anyone found anything cheaper within striking distance of Sussex please??

As its out of warranty I'd happily consider a non-franchised specialist so if anyone has local knowledge of a FL2-friendly one I'd be really grateful.

Many thanks

10forcash AKA Ian at Offroad Essentials is quoting 260 odd for the 3rd service. Cheapest LR dealer I've seen is 328.42 including MOT and VAT.

I recently used --- http://www.nationwideautocentres.co.uk/ (tonbridge)
Got a major service ( inc break fluid change) and a MOT for the inclusive price of £262.42.
using Halfords discont codes Very Happy Very Happy

I am VERY happy with the service, they did everything that was on the LR service schedule, inc the synthetic oil.

no free wash though - which I prefer, then I can do a proper job, with no swirls or scratches from using shammies etc

oh - also a minor / major point of irritation for me, there were no oil drips on the engine,
LR lewes left oil all over the place - that really Censored me off.

Bet they couldn't do software updates for the ECU mind you.

The only problem is I'd be wary about letting them at the Freelander when there isn't a fantastic difference between them and a LR dealer.

James Edwards Chester £366.36 - supposedly including brake fluid change. I say supposedly because the invoice only includes £4.77 plus VAT for '(PT) Fluid - bra' ; this seems more of a top up to me than a complete change. Also they have not ticked the box on the service record to say the fluid was changed. I will call in again to clarify this point. Excepting the foregoing, I think the price is reasonable and they were extremely helpful/courteous and even replaced the rusty locking wheelnuts under warranty for me.

Are these prices with or without MOT? It's just I sort of assume most get the service and MOT done at the same time and all these prices are getting confusing as we dont know exactly what they include.

My price is without MOT ( not due until April) - quoted about £54 by dealer.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Been getting quotes for 3rd/45K service and MOT due late March.

My supplying dealer Roger Young LR of Saltash, where it has always been, has quoted £390 inc change of brake fluid and VAT + MOT at £53.32.

Matford LR of Exeter, quoted £403.45 inc change of brake fluid and VAT + MOT at £53.32.

Rider's LR of Truro, quoted £305.51 inc change of brake fluid and VAT + FREE MOT.

Guess where I'm going! Fuel cost for round trip is £20ish - so its a no-brainer!

Beware of what you're getting too!!!!!!!!!! None of the LR dealers said anything about 'brake fluid change' and when questioned, ALL said that schedule instructed them to 'check/top-up'. I pointed out that page 7 of the Land Rover Service Portfolio states that:

Brake Fluid Replacement:
Brake fluid must be completely replaced at specific intervals.
For Freelander 2, LR2 / Discovery 3, LR3 / RRS and RR: Every 3 years regardless of distance.

Really fills you with confidence when none of them seemed aware of this! Was GS TD4 Auto, Privacy, Santorini with Tundra & Alpaca, Cold Climate Pack. Traded for Discovery Sport HSE Auto.
