2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black
Is my dealer taking the proverbial?

8 week old FL2 refuses to lock on Christmas Eve, and just mocks me by beeping the horn, bloody irritating feature that is! Dash says left rear door open, check it and left rear door most definately not open, window on that door also doesn't work. Phoned Landrover assist as couldn't lock car- they sent AA who checked latch and fuses couldn't find anything but showed me how to lock it manually- that would have been a nice feature to show me when I picked up car but no instead we wasted more time explaining CO2 emission certificate! Why manual lock is on passenger door don't ask me. 1st working day after Christmas phoned Gordon Lamb, Chesterfield who says they won't book it in until after they order and receive new door latch. Hear nothing so ring back on 12th January, my part is coming at the weekend, cynic in me says they have just placed the order after I phoned Whistle ! Can I have courtesy car or pick up and drop off- no I will have to wait three weeks, why I couldn't book my car therefore in three weeks ago when I first phoned I do not know! Whats the liklihood this is actually a door latch, given the window is also not working? Does it honestly take 3 weeks to get in a part? Any recommendations of alternative dealers accesible from Mansfield, Notts who actually understand what customer service is? Loved my freelander but having to climb over all the seats and dismantle door handle to lock the thing is driving me stir crazy! Now new fault of interior boot light coming on and staying on all the time- oh what joys. Be grateful for any pointers as to the location/cause of these faults! Thanks

Mate, try Stratstone Nottingham. They have been excellent for me. I did buy my car from there so that might be the reason they are helpful but thats not the case for you at Gordon Lamb it seems.

I have had a couple of minor problems since buying in April and each time they have sent a guy out to my house or work in a courtesy FL2 and collected mine before dropping it off later at no cost to me and I can usually book at relatively short notice. Max I waited was seven days for courtesy vehicle.

Call Steve Widdowson and tell him that I recommended you go there, an existing stratstone customer recommendation might help! Thumbs Up

Your version of events doesn't bode well at all Sad

Some times parts are on back order and do take time to be delivered, most only take a couple of days though

But, either way your dealer doesn't sound top notch Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi keep away from Gordon Lamb, Chesterfield they are a waste of time. Customer service poor, standard of work poor etc etc. I am still waiting for a phone call from them about a new car thats over a year ago. And if they cant be arsed to phone about a sale what do you think the rest of the service will be like ? Stay away, give Guy Salmon Land Rover a call at Sheffield top notch service and first rate staff Thumbs Up

Re: Is my dealer taking the proverbial?

That's Gordon Lamb Chesterfield (GLC) alright. Greedy n Lazy Charlatans.

Derbyshire has always been poorly served by LR dealers for decades. It used to be Kennings (couldn't diagnose a fault on a wheelbarrow) now there's Hunters flash showroom but whose customer "service" model is based on rape and pillage, and of course, I've already described Gordon Lamb.

The best crew were Windsors of Manfield for generations but Ford (despite Mr Windsor having the best qualified Service Team for miles) wanted old man Windsor to spend his pension on tarting up the LR showroom, so he lost the franchise to a large corporate box shifting operator.

As "The Doctor" has stated you could try his recommendation or, in the future you could talk to the independent garage "David Oldham 4x4 in Glossop" - Idea
