United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black
A New Freelander For Over £40K

Shocked Was on the Landrover site yesterday playing with the builder section & if you build an HSE SD4 & add the luxury leather, adaptive xenons etc you will vastly exceed £40,000. Seems a lot to me.

Why is the HSE SD4 £1000 more than the TD4? Surely you don't pay £1K just for the extra power?

Another thing I notced was I was building a GS model for my brother-in-law as he gets a new company vehicle in September & when I first went on to the build it had the basic price but as soon as you chose any of the engine/gearbox options it added a minimum of £500 giving the impression that the vehicle is supplied without an engine + gearbox Bow down
This also happened on other models too one was the RRS I believe. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

Car import tax is very high. For example a Volvo produced in Sweden (next door) costs almost twice the price here Big Cry

Unfortunatly the price for a FL2 HSE is not available online and the new company for importing seems worse than the old one. The web site has been "under construction" for over 6-months and my guess is LR-Norway is doomed to die very soon Crying or Very sad 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Because the SD4 is standard with an automatic gearbox, where as the TD4 isnt. So the £1000 is for the auto box and the SD4 engine. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

£40k for a freely? Pah that's nothing - I'm sure the random number generator that is the price list for a top spec Evoque with all the options is being warmed up as we speak! What do you reckon - £45k? £48k???

I guess the price difference between equivalent spec D4 and RRS could form an equation to an Evoque price based on Freelander? Oh hang on, that means JLR using logic. Nah, it'll never work... Laughing

The SD4 is £1,000 more than the TD4 auto. I did think about an SD4 but it wasn't worth the extra for a few BHP. Andyfr

Auto Express mentioned about the price of the FL that they were testing...£38.000, SD4 HSE with xenons.

Then they pitched it against 'equivalent' cars from BM, Audi, and Volvo

The Audi I seem to remember was about £51.000
Volvo about £48.000
BM about £44.000

And the FL came second (apparently, although they did say it was the most expensive on test, and also that the BM was better in the snow, ignoring the fact it had winter tyres on) Nobbers.

Look at it this way...the hot golf before you start ticking options is about £31.000...makes it sound excellent value now! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Hey you also get a shiny front grille and there is more plastic involved in making an S than a T on the SD4 badge on the back! Laughing

You get the colour coded body parts on the SD models too. I asked that very question the other day to the dealer about the £1K price diffeerence. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

OK, I didnt realise that. But will all SD4's you get the complete colour coded body trim instead of the black.

£1000 is not too bad to be honest, it's only because it's the same engine with different power. If the TD4 was a 150PS 2.0 and the SD4 was a 190PS 2.2, then know one would question the £1000. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Has anyone every tried to have a bog standard no extras/options car for the starting price quoted, I know they tried to buy a BMW on a car prog years ago for the basic starter price and it proved impossible as they all came with a radio and that was an extra bumping up the price by 300 quid or so before you began Rolling Eyes I was only wrong once and thats when I thought I was but wasnt.
