I very much doubt it today, is your car over 3yrs old? AA/LR assist is your only hope.

If clutch is still biting, and you can get the car moving, you should be able to change gear by double declutching. Not for the faint hearted though, and once you stop you're stuck.

ANY LOCAL REPAIR GARAGES YOU COULD RECOMMEND?

PROBLEM (PARTIALLY) SOLVED, WELL, GETTING HOME BIT ANYWAY.

AA ARRIVED WITHIN 30 MINS . DIAGNOSED CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER AS THE PROBLEM. UPGRADED MEMBERSHIP TO HOME RECOVERY AND WAITING FOR LIFT HOME TO DERBY....�300 LIGHTER!

FEAR AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR NEEDED , GEARBOX HAS TO COME OFF, AGAIN! CLUTCH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY 10 MONTHS AGO BY MAIN DEALER. AA ENGINEER SAYS ITS NORMALLY PRACTICE TO REPLACE THE SLAVE CYLINDER IRRESPECTIVE WHEN DOING CLUTCH REPAIR BUT SOMETIMES THIS ISN'T DONE.

BIG THANKS TO MARTYN ESKDALE FOR THE OFFER OF HELP. TOP MAN. APPRECIATE THE CHAT MARTYN AND WILL TAKE YOUR ADVICE TO GET MY DEALER (AND LR CUSTOMER SERVICES IF NECESSARY) INVOLVED IN RESOLVING THIS ISSUE.

CLUTCH PEDAL NOT WORKING !!
How do you then (double declutch) with No Clutch pedell !!!!

1, Make sure engine starts and is warm- (you are about to put your battery through hell)

2, Start engine in gear, and drive !!

3, To change up the gears - back of the power -knock out of gear let the engine revs a drop a little select the next gear. - Get the timing wrong it will not go in to gear and may crunch)

4, To change down the gears- back of the power knock it out of gear- rev the engine slightly select the lower gear. -Get the timing wrong it will not go in to gear and may crunch)

5, To stop rev the engine a little knock out of gear and then brake (you have NO engine braking it will take longer to stop)

But it work's And it got me back from Berlin, 700 miles, about 15 years back. (IT was a getting on and off the Ferry and around the M25)

Sorry, I forgot the bit about starting in gear - however that is not possible in a freelander. Indeed without a clutch it may not be possible to start at all! (Can you still bump start by rolling down a hill? I keep meaning to try).

A certain Austrian racing driver once recommended the clutchless technique for driving on snow. There was immediately a flurry of accidents as his compatriots tried it out!

I've used this technique in the past on a Marina and a Transit, both with no clutch. Works fine.

Looks like you have found a flaw in the plan, you need the clutch pressed to start the car even whilst bunp starting? The only hope would be 6 burly blokes to push it from rest whilst in 3rd/4th gear to jerk start it?

It may still work, to start the engine requires the clutch pedal to be depressed not the clutch to operate. So pressing the pedal of a non operating clutch should operate the switch and also in gear should get you on your way............ maybe

I drive my HGV like this every day, well I do use the clutch when stopping and starting, I prefer a clutch less change as long as you match the revs to the road speed for each gear. You will find that you need to leave the gear inbetween acceleration and de-accleration any other time will require force. However as other said you won't start it in gear. 2009 FL2 GS

Not sure but was not going up and down the box without using the clutch part of the old HGV test many many moons ago, if not the HGV the PSV Test
