Use H7's, an easy swap. two bolts per headlight then press/pull the flappy paddles and draw the headlight unit out of the bumper.

Think of them being like batteries, you know size C, size D. It's just a slightly different type of bulb. Do a search on Fleabay and you'll see them. |

Andy, both bulbs in each headlight should be H7. My HSE (December 2009) has both H7 bulbs in each headlight. I am just about to replace the headlights (halogen reflectors ) with halogen projectors, and install Philips X-treme Vision 100% ( £29 on e -bay) which I think are probably better than the Osram ones. |

Don't forget to mark (with a pencil) the position of the adjustment heads surrounding the bolts or you will lose your alignment when replacing the headlight. To replace the bulb you have to remove the complete light so you need some way to be sure to put it back where it was! Freelander 2 TD4 HSE auto Tonga Green/Alpaca |

Good tip Adrian, thanks. I was going to check the beams sweet spot against a wall at a measured distance and height and replicate it with the new headlights when installed, but your tip will help greatly, thanks. They are new lights which came off the vehicle before it was driven, so hopefully they will have been adjusted already and I can just stick them in with the new bulbs |

There are a number of posts on bulb upgrades but replies are well dated now

Osram Nightbreaker Plus are my favourites but any of the big names will be a bit better than standard. I get mine from Amazon because I get discount vouchers for them, I think my last set was 10.50 for a pair. |

+1 for the Nightbreaker plus bulbs, they give a noticeable improvement on dipped beam and longevity is 18 months so far. |
