Trip Computer

Where is the i button for cycling the data display on the Trip Computer?

The 'Trip reset button' only does just that so I'm figuring the i button is something else.... Freelander 2 SD4 HSE - Ipanema Sand - MD co-pilot - Springer Spaniel in boot - Swift Challenger on the back!

Cheers - pretty sure it doesn't tell you that anywhere in the manual or quick start guide, and it's not the sort of place you see it easily when in the driver's seat. Freelander 2 SD4 HSE - Ipanema Sand - MD co-pilot - Springer Spaniel in boot - Swift Challenger on the back!

Does anyone know if it is possible to update the trip computer to include instant fuel economy readouts on my 2008 HSE. I had a 2010 GS courtesy car recently and that had the option to show instant economy as well as average readings?

Is it something the dealer could do on an ECU upgrade/update?
Thanks. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Nope. Different hardware (electronics) and, of course, different firmware (software).
And it wont work even if you change the IC (Instrument Cluster) with a new one.
The time shown on the new ICs is kept on the Central Junction Box.
And the CJB is like a hub for almost all electronic systems on the car.
So also changing the CJB will lead to a lot of other problems...
I don't say it can't be done... It's a lot of headaches if you try to...
Upgrading the whole car could be a lot easier... Laughing Laughing Laughing

I'm going to the dealers tomorrow to collect the front bib spoilers I ordered after seeing Mav71's pics. I'll ask the service manager whilst I'm there too. I would have thought it should have been a standard feature, it is on my wifes 2007 Mini Cooper.
Thanks for the quick replies guys. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

No instant readout on Mrs Dave's 2007 GS nor on my old one, only average consumption I'm afraid. ______________________

Instant fuel consumption readout is laughable on mine, a light throttle in 4th gear at 30/35mph and the readout jumps erratically from 30 to 90 and anything in between Laughing
Only when I'm driving 'normally' with correct revs at a given speed does it settle to anything between 30-40mpg.

I asked the service manager about the instant fuel economy readout and he confirmed what Alex said. It's no great problem really, just wondered if mine was not working. Service manager did say he thought it would have been a standard feature on the HSE though.

Fitted the front bib spoilers when I got back, easy to fit, just cut off a small plastic locating peg and drill another small hole in the bumper. I used the self tapping screw that I took out when fitting the mudflaps as it's the same screw as the others holding the bumper on. I think they look good, and are supposed to improve aerodynamics and economy, though not by much I wouldn't have thought. See MAV71s pic under 'spot the modification'. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
