I wondered if anybody has ever had problems with FL2 models that have auto folding mirrors freezing in extreme cold conditions. I haven't as yet but mine seem a bit sluggish sometimes especially when temps been minus 10 and below.
We all hear of the problems caused by trying to open frozen electric windows and potentially blowing a fuse or worse.
Maybe it would take a lot to freeze the auto folding mechanism solid?
Is there any way to lock and arm the alarm without folding in the mirrors? I have read other posts which owners say they use the folded mirrors as reassurance that the car is locked and alarm on.

I'm going to be no help at all as I have been leaving mine unlocked during the cold nights
I didn't want to take the chance of them attempting to move when frozen so took the chance that even unlocked it would still be secure. (Unless they pinched the seats)

If you fold or unfold the mirrors using the door controls I believe this will disable the auto fold function until such time as you fold/unfold using the door controls again.

I think my passenger side mirror mechanism may now be damaged as it makes an unhealthy loud click when almost closed and again when it just starts opening out. Otherwise it functions ok. Don't know whether it is possible to inspect the folding mechanism. Will have to wait until after Christmas now. Car is out of warranty.

Ive found it to be most helpful to use the controls on the door to power fold mirriors in before leaving the car.
That way if the car is frozen the next morning you can enter the car and warm up with out the mirrors trying to unfold

if anyone is wondering where the switch is to fold the mirrors manually, there aint one , you have to press and hold the left and right mirror buttons together when stationary or i think less than 10 mph, it took me ages to figure this out !!! mind you i am from norfolk !!!!!! TO DARE IS TO DO

Never Frozen - have been down to minus 27°C.

I've taken to applying the odd squirt of furniture polish (bees wax formula) into the gap and, occassionally, a blast of de-icer during the really cold spell.
