No Headlights!

Currently waiting for Land Rover Assist to have a look at my Freelander.

Left work to drive home in the snow and both headlights failed to turn on!

Checked the switch, stopped and started the car, all other lights work.

Got home and checked the fuse - its fine
Took the light units out to check the bulbs - there fine
Full beam, parking, fog lights etc all work.

anyone else seen this before?

thanks

Yeh its sounds crazy.

I come from Aboyne and live in Aberdeen so im going the opposite way from the traffic, still took twice as long cos of the slow drivers!

Had to drive with fog lights on which I don't like doing as they are quite bright especially when theres no headlights! www.222photography.co.uk

Reading your post again, sounds to me as if it could be a dodgy main light switch if the fuses & bulbs are ok or the stalk switching between high & low beam.

I'd be tempted to give both switches a "good workout" and see what happens. ______________________

silly thought but are your lights on auto or do you manually switch them on?
Just wondering whether the sensor has failed?

Bulbs had both blown! Embarassed

Didn't look blown when I looked first but the AA man checked them in his van and no light.

Still seems strange both bulbs would go at the same time, the AA guy thought it might have been the weather.

Where the car was parked was extreme cold then blue sky with sun then cold with snow again all day today.

Definatly the weather, your bulbs weren't use to the sun been out in Scotland Laughing

Very strange that they both blew though, maybe some sort of power surge Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yeh I never noticed they were blown to start with due to the 4 inches of snow on the car!

Think I will mention it at the next service incase there's somthing else that's caused it.

By the way npinks, my revs have dipped up and down like yours aswell, seems to only have first thing in the morning, never when the engines warm.

Both my dipped beam bulbs packed up a couple of days ago when I got into the car to go home from work, unfortunatly it was 11pm and and -7 deg. It's quite a cold job changeing bulbs at that time of night.

The next night one main beam bulb packed up on the way home.

Can such extreme temps cause bulbs to fail? Very Happy
